Ron Gilbert Announces Double Fine Departure

by Jeff Cork on Mar 12, 2013 at 03:57 AM

Acclaimed game designer Ron Gilbert has announced that he is leaving Double Fine. Gilbert's most recent game, The Cave, was released a few months ago, but that isn't the last we'll be hearing from Gilbert.

Gilbert broke the news on his blog. "I want to thank all the amazing people at Double Fine for all their hard work on The Cave. It was a true pleasure to work with every one of them over the past two years. So much fun. I will miss them all. And of course to Tim [Schafer] for creating the opportunity to come there and make The Cave."

He also teased a project he's been working on with his Deathspank co-creator Clayton Kauzlaric. "It's called Scurvy Scallywags in The Voyage to Discover the Ultimate Sea Shanty: A Musical Match-3 Pirate RPG," Gilbert wrote. "I'll post some screen shots in the next few days."

We can't wait to see them.
