The lights are on
Michael Pachter, renowned video game analyst, held a presentation at South by Southwest (SXSW), where he shared his predictions about the upcoming generation of video game consoles.
Images of Pachter's presentation come care of Geoff Keighley on Twitter. Among his many predictions, Pachter said that this will be the last generation of home consoles, games will cost an extra $10 than the previous generation, and he shared his lifetime sales predictions for the Wii U, PlayStation 4, and whatever Microsoft's next console will be.
Pachter believes that the Wii U will under-perform, and sell about half as many units as the Wii. For the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's next console, he is predicting that both consoles will outsell their predecessors by about 20 million units.
What do you think about Pachter's latest batch of predictions?

This guy is making a new prediction every week, opposing the last week's prediction. He is being trolling everyone for like 2 years.
Why is this guy still newsworthy?
No disrespect to Pachter, he seems like a fine person, but doesn't he almost always gets these things wrong? That's not to say I believe he's wrong or right, but just saying, he's often wrong from what I can tell.
I'll agree with him on the Wii-U, but as for the PS4/Xbox, I wouldn't say they'll blow their previous consoles out of the water.
lol . Joker .
Pachter is notoriously well known for being wrong about just about everything. He's a smart guy, but I wouldn't put a dime on any of those predictions.
I personally think a lot of consumers are going to hold back from buying the next gen console, at least in the beginning and especially people who have families. Of course there will always be early adopters and the hard core gaming crowd but there's still a lot of life in the 360 and PS3 and this generation has been around for so long that there's no shortage of games on these systems. I think that the price of the hardware coming out of the gate is going to be the real decider here, more so than the last generation. Of course, Sony and Microsoft could always just turn off the servers for Xbox Live and PSN that supports the current systems and try to force the issue, which is something I see happening if first year sales of the next gen appear sluggish. I just think it's a bad idea to think that the next gen is going to out perform this gen as far as sales go, unless they're out for over ten years.
Illuminate me, oh wise Nostradamus! Analyst = guy who gets money for guessing stuff and making statements that favor himself and his stocks. The whole idea of this coming generation to be the last home console generation is just so absurd.
STOP. POSTING. PACHTER.
The only thing I agree with is the underselling of the Wii U. Home consoles will never die as long as there is a market for them. Your telling me that he is predicting that Sony and Microsoft will out sell there previous systems by 20 million and then say "No thanks, were done with consoles...". Yeah, makes sense....
I dislike Patcher. If you get your news on Wii U Daily you'd know why.
