The lights are on
We learned in February that the top-notch Wii DK sequel, Donkey Kong Country Returns, will be coming to the 3DS this summer. Now we've learned the developer of the Wii game, Retro Studios, isn't working on the 3DS version.
Instead, the 3DS adaptation is being handled by Monster Games, the same developer that did Pilotwings Resort for the 3DS. The new info comes from the Australian Classification Board, which recently revealed developer details. So what is Retro Studios actually up to? As Joystiq points out, Retro Studios, which formerly worked on the Metroid: Primes, may be working on the previously teased Metroid 3DS game.

In a interview with Mercy Steam over Catlevania when asked if they would like to work on the Metroid game. They said something along the lines of we would love to do that, but we cant talk about that right now. So they might be making it and not Retro.
thats fine , long as the other dev handling it does right with it.
As long as the game's good, having a different studio work on the game is fine by me.
Nintendo should get Monster Games on to some racers...like F-Zero perhaps?
It doesn't matter. The trailer for the game for 3DS was stunning.
Well shucks.
Hopefully if it's on the 3ds it's classic side scrolling Metroid, though I'd prefer they stick to console releases.
Not surprised really. The game is just a port. It's just like how Ocarina of Time 3D was handled by a relativly obscure developer. As long as the quality of this port is as good as that one was, I'll be happy.
makes sense. they already made the game the first time around! they really don't need to be there in order to port it. just let someone else handle it, like Grezzo did with OOT3D.
Doesn't really worry me at all, I will still be getting this on launch day.
Perhaps they're also working on a new Starfox??? maybe???
