The lights are on
Since SimCity's rocky release, the game has suffered awful server-related connectivity issues, which EA has tried to remedy by removing certain gameplay mechanics. The plot thickens with the news that EA is only refunding physical copies of the game purchased through its Origin store, not digital copies.
EA's refusal to refund digital copies of the game falls in line with the company's past practices, but confusion started with a tweet from EA's community manager. According to Ars Technica, Tuesday's tweet said, "[i]f you regrettably feel that we let you down, you can of course request a refund for your order... though we're currently still in the process of resolving this issue."
The tweet was later altered to say "please review our refund policy here."
Amazon also holds a similar stance as EA regarding digital refunds, but according to the aforementioned Ars Technica article one customer support employee made an exception.

Its sad when your play experience would be better on simcity for snes. Certain gaming companies seem to be going backwards and screwing the gamer who has been the reason these companies gotten so big in the first place. Get rid of online drm and your problem is solved EA jackasses
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why full digital distribution is still a long way out.
What a mess this Sim City thing is...
I don't understand them not refunding the digital copies. It would actually be easy for them to confirm the deletion of the title from the persons Origin library. There woud be little to no end around for a person to get a refund while still somehow having access to the game. They just don't want to face the consequences for putting out a subpar product that has left the consumers disappointed.
What sucks about EA is they make games for a LOT of Demographics...so even though we boycott them, there will be kids whining to have their parents buy a game; a game made by EA. They will profit off the whining of children who don't understand the problem with EA.
If the game is solid and server connections are stable, the game will sell, customers will come back. I would've honored digital refunds if I were EA, would really give them some much needed positive PR.
