The lights are on
Eidos Montreal has been working for years to reboot the classic
stealth series Thief, and the fruits of its labor will finally be revealed
in issue 240 of Game Informer Magazine.
Our April cover story is a world-exclusive look at this next-generation stealth title. Series hero Garrett returns to the
Gothic, industrial metropolis known simply as the City to steal any and
everything that will make him richer. Unfortunately, the City is broiling with social tension as it is ravaged by a plague and lorded over by a political tyrant known as the Baron. In order to survive his adventures, Garrett will have to pay attention to his environment and make use of the may possible paths through each of the game's levels.
Square Enix plans to release Thief for PS4 and PC sometime in 2014, but the game is also planned for other next-gen consoles. Check out our coverage trailer for a taste of all the
content you can look forward to absorbing over the next month.
Also in the issue, we take a look at Sony's PlayStation 4 as well as
Bungie's follow up to Halo, a new sci-fi series called Destiny. We also
research the harsh realities of mobile development and learn about the challenges small teams face when making a game. Ubisoft let us check out its new pirate game, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. We poke fun at the entire industry
with our annual Game Infarcer feature, and then take an exclusive look
at Trion Worlds and Syfy's MMO/TV show experiment Defiance. It's a lot
of content, but don't forget to check out our classic feature on
Pitfall, or our previews of The Last of Us, Remember Me, and Grid 2.
It's a meaty issue; you're welcome.

I love the concept of the games, but could never personally get into them. Maybe the concept will work better for me with the new gen
Just when I thought it would be ac4. This actually looks cooler than ac4
This looks interesting...
I hope it's not just like Dishonored. I know Thief is the original, but if they are going to make a reboot, they better make damn sure it stands out.
It's funny that Dishonored took inspiration from Thief and now Thief is taking inspiration from Dishonored.
The circle of life...
I enjoyed dishonored a lot.. although I avoided the violent path. Hopefully Thief allows for an even more interesting peaceful play-through.
The Thief series has done stealth, top to bottom, better than just about any other IP. It also was one of the first games to off truly different ways to approach the same situation. I wish them the best of luck.
never even heard of thief before a few days ago, it seems pretty cool so i'm probably gonna get it
hmmm seems pretty cool. I wonder it you can put on a plague doctor mask so scare people off or come of as inconspicuous because of how you look
feels like... Dishonored... or maybe... Dishonored feels like thief?
can't wait.....between this and black flag I will be busy for a while.
Considering this is going to be a reboot of the series, I wonder if familiar characters will appear aside from Garrett? It would be nice to see more of Constantine and Viktoria. (Father Karras can stay dead.)
With regard to the introduction of the plague, perhaps that will give rise to the appearance of the ghosts and zombies in the Old District (beyond that they spilled from the Hammer's Cathedral). I am interested in hearing more about the Baron, he was barely alluded to in Dark Project and Metal Age aside from rumors of some war the City was involved in - more world building for the Thief landscape would be spectacular.
Not that it's unexpected in Thief, but...
"OH LOOK! A COMPOUND BOW!!!!!1!!"
again a great cover story! nice work!
Can't wait...Theif is awesome, been waiting for this before they even announced it awhile back haha
And The Builder said:
"If the foundation is weak,
Do you wail and nash your teeth;
Do you ask it to repour itself?
Nay. You tear it down and begin anew.
So shall it be with all with all my children,
Whether they be stone, or flesh, or the next Thief video game."
