The lights are on
Eidos Montreal has been working for years to reboot the classic
stealth series Thief, and the fruits of its labor will finally be revealed
in issue 240 of Game Informer Magazine.
Our April cover story is a world-exclusive look at this next-generation stealth title. Series hero Garrett returns to the
Gothic, industrial metropolis known simply as the City to steal any and
everything that will make him richer. Unfortunately, the City is broiling with social tension as it is ravaged by a plague and lorded over by a political tyrant known as the Baron. In order to survive his adventures, Garrett will have to pay attention to his environment and make use of the may possible paths through each of the game's levels.
Square Enix plans to release Thief for PS4 and PC sometime in 2014, but the game is also planned for other next-gen consoles. Check out our coverage trailer for a taste of all the
content you can look forward to absorbing over the next month.
Also in the issue, we take a look at Sony's PlayStation 4 as well as
Bungie's follow up to Halo, a new sci-fi series called Destiny. We also
research the harsh realities of mobile development and learn about the challenges small teams face when making a game. Ubisoft let us check out its new pirate game, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. We poke fun at the entire industry
with our annual Game Infarcer feature, and then take an exclusive look
at Trion Worlds and Syfy's MMO/TV show experiment Defiance. It's a lot
of content, but don't forget to check out our classic feature on
Pitfall, or our previews of The Last of Us, Remember Me, and Grid 2.
It's a meaty issue; you're welcome.

this game looks amazing
This is absolutely outstanding! The first Thief game was included free with a purchase of some sort. I fell in love with the series and have every one of the games. I will still load the old games from time to time (once I have forgotten all the in's and out's) and play them again. I still get the "heebie geebies" when I'm surprised in game!
I love the possibility of a new release.
From the video it sounds like its the Deus Ex: Human Revolution team working on this game. Which is great as their work was fantastic.
Love this series. Can we get Legacy of Kain next please ?
I enjoyed all three of the originals. The doom 3 darkmod version of thief is very good too(and free if you own doom 3). If you really want to experience them fully play on expert level in a quiet place at night with the lights on low. I'm told dishonored is similar but i just aquired it and havent had time to find out yet. Note that there ARE many good add on levels for free available for thief and darkmod. A lot of bang for your buck if you know what i mean. Being a gamer from way back (i started with MSdos) the tons of free levels available for some games do make the games that have them a lot more worth the financial investment. Believe it or not i got literally about 5000 extra levels for doom ,doom2 ,and fianl doom for about $15.00 at a computer show. They are all free now on the web. its not just the thief series. I could list many others. Thief is one of the best though.
We're 3 months into 2013, why are we reading about things in 2014?
Oh , master Garrett !
I've heard a lot about you and your hands !
But I didn't have a chance to meet you !
But now , thanks to reboot , I can meet the mighty thief !
Thank you Eidos !
Please don't screw it !
Awesome. It'll be just like Dishonored i imagine, but without the powers.
Seriously, this game better continue from where the last one left. I was looking forward to having a thief apprentice lol
This looks really cool! I may have to pick this up when it comes out.
Long time Garrett! How is that fake glass eye?
Still have the three games that i purchased for PC...miss you like hell.
Can't wait to return to the shadows this time on the PS4.
I do believe it will be a "real" Thief but i also suspect, thou Garrett don't speak much, that the game will have RPG components with side missions and lots of hidden treasures/artifacts...sweet.
I don't know why, but I have a really strong feeling (or just hope very much) that the next GI issue will have a Fallout 4 cover. God I hope I'm right. That would be amazing.
lol, I have never heard of Thief before. Ever.
