The lights are on
Matt Nava, former thatgamecompany member and art director for Flower and Journey, recently left the critically acclaimed studio, and now we know why.
Nava officially announced the formation of Giant Squid on Twitter with a link to the studio's website. Currently, the studio has no announced projects, but their mission statement makes it sound like you can expect the same sort of art-focused games produced by that game company. The mission statement reads, "we strive to create artistic games that deliver beautiful, meaningful, and timeless experiences to a wide range of people."
We'll have to wait to find out more, but anyone with games like Flower and Journey on their resume is certainly worth paying attention to.

Hope they make some good games.
I'm really not sure why he would what to leave thatgamecompany. It seems they were producing great, artistic games already. But I'm happy for Matt Nava if that is what he wanted/needed to do. Let's see what he can create.
I wonder if the sow.
I don't know if this is good news or bad news.
That is probably the coolest logo ive ever seen.
Cool. i figured with two great hits like those two games, that he would eventually leave that company to start his own.
So it's only Jenova Chen that's left, right?
I don't understand why he would leave thatgamecompany, but the art direction on Journey is one of the reasons I love that game, so if we now have two studios making cool, arty, engaging games, sobeit.
Well, that's kind of sad. Hopefully thatgamecompany will still do well without him.
