The lights are on
Matt Nava, former thatgamecompany member and art director for Flower and Journey, recently left the critically acclaimed studio, and now we know why.
Nava officially announced the formation of Giant Squid on Twitter with a link to the studio's website. Currently, the studio has no announced projects, but their mission statement makes it sound like you can expect the same sort of art-focused games produced by that game company. The mission statement reads, "we strive to create artistic games that deliver beautiful, meaningful, and timeless experiences to a wide range of people."
We'll have to wait to find out more, but anyone with games like Flower and Journey on their resume is certainly worth paying attention to.

That's good, now there's more room for more creativity in the world.
It sounds like TGC was already doing that though.
The name is awesome! I can't wait to hear what they got in store for us!
Hopefully some more awesome games like Journey from this new dev(with a great name). Isn't TGC not making games anymore?
I'm pretty happy and sad about this. I'm happy because there's a new great art studio, and I'm sad because he had to leave to ma it happen.
I wish him and his studio the best of luck. It kind of sucks that TGC lost him, but whatever.
Am I the only one that thought of the Greyjoys when I saw the picture? "We do not sow."
it looks like the squid is making earbuds out of his tentacles.
For some reason it made me think of how the director of each God of War game had a different job, which I think one of them was an art director. I'm sure the games that will come out of his studio will certainly be beautiful but it'll be some hard work to make them on the caliber of Journey. I wish him the best of luck because we need more unique games. ^_^
i really love that logo
so by the sound of it, they will still be making sony exclusive games.
Giant Squid? That's an odd name for a studio.
Cool, cool.
