The lights are on
According to Crytek's founder, CEO, and president, Cevat Yerli, Crysis 3 was up and running on the Wii U, but a lack of support from Nintendo and Electronic Arts meant it was never going to make it to retail.
In an interview with VentureBeat about Warface, Crytek's free to play shooter, Yerli said, "We did have Crysis 3 running on the Wii U. We were very close to launching it, but there was a lack of business support between Nintendo and EA on that. Since we as a company couldn’t launch on the Wii U ourselves — we don’t have a publishing license — Crysis 3 on Wii U had to die."
On one hand, this shows that Wii U is struggling to attract third-party support, but on the other hand, it shows that technologically, the Wii U is keeping up with its current competition.

The GamePad would've been awesome for this. Interesting to know that there is a working build of this though.
interesting but it seems wrong to play crysis on anything other than a PC. But hey w/e aslong as the game gets played. The fact the wii u is up to standards with crytek is intriguing
EA makes it impossible to like them real reacing 3 opened eyes
Makes sense. It'd probably me considerably more time, money, and effort to port to WiiU than other consoles, considering gamepad support and all that. EA likely figures they have a moderately small install base with the WiiU, and Nintendo probably figures it doesn't fit their overall plan right now.
Why would nintendo not push this? I want some good games to come out on the wii u so I can feel like buying it
My guess would be that it was EA who kept it from happening. They have clearly shown an aversion to supporting the system, with asinine moves like ME3 while other systems got the entire trilogy.
Personally, I didn't buy the Wii U for games like Crysis, I got it to play quirky and fun games, like Pikmin. If every console was the same, why bother having different ones?
Almost doesn't count. We all know that.
We all knew this months ago. Nintendo wouldn't pay what EA wanted to have their precious Crysis 3 on the WiiU. This is why I won't be bying Crysis 3 or any other EA title in the future.
"...Nintendo and Electronic Arts meant it was never going to make it to retail". If this is indeed TRUE; Nintendo?, EA? = You SUCK !
