Crysis 3 Almost Came To Wii U

by Kyle Hilliard on Mar 02, 2013 at 10:53 AM

According to Crytek's founder, CEO, and president, Cevat Yerli, Crysis 3 was up and running on the Wii U, but a lack of support from Nintendo and Electronic Arts meant it was never going to make it to retail.

In an interview with VentureBeat about Warface, Crytek's free to play shooter, Yerli said, "We did have Crysis 3 running on the Wii U. We were very close to launching it, but there was a lack of business support between Nintendo and EA on that. Since we as a company couldn’t launch on the Wii U ourselves — we don’t have a publishing license — Crysis 3 on Wii U had to die."

On one hand, this shows that Wii U is struggling to attract third-party support, but on the other hand, it shows that technologically, the Wii U is keeping up with its current competition.
