Switch Lights

The lights are on

Metro: Last Light Coming This May

Metro: Last Light was originally slated to come out this month, but the game was delayed. It's understandable, considering the upheaval that surrounded the game's development, including the collapse of publisher THQ. Now its new publisher, Deep Silver, has announced that the game is coming out this May.

More specifically, Artyom will continue his subterranean adventures on May 14 in North America, and the rest of the world starting May 17. Publisher Deep Silver says the additional time will go toward adding an additional layer of polish. When developer 4A Games came to our offices a few months ago, they were quite vocal about THQ not providing the studio with the time and resources they needed to optimize the game in its final stretch. Here's hoping their relationship with Deep Silver works better for everyone.

  • I would rather they put some polish on it than come out with a buggy monster of a game. pssssst psssst Aliens: Colonial Marines
  • So excited for this game!
  • The first one reminded me of a cross between Doom and Fallout. This one is definitely a day one purchase for me.

  • I'm glad deep silver is giving them time rather than breaking their balls to get it out.
  • I am wondering how will it run on my PC. Still have to finish the first game.
  • I'm more than okay with Deep Silver delaying this game to add some extra polish, especially after Metro switched publishers.

  • While I was really looking forward to having a new title to play this month, I guess it's for the best.

  • I was hoping they could keep the original date but if they really didn't have the time to polish it up until now, then by all means, please take all the time you need.

It's not like March is going to be boring. Looking forward to playing Metro Last Light!

  • It's actually nice to see some of these titles being pushed back.  Nothing wrong with needing a little more time.

  • Well, at least it is coming.

  • They should take as much time as they would need. You wouldn't want a repeat of the bugs in Metro:2033.

  • I think this game will benefit from the delay. Not only does it give 4A more time to polish the game but also distances this game from some very big releases in March(Tomb Raider, Bioshock: Infinite, GOW: Ascension and GOW:judgement)
  • As long as it still comes out im fine.

  • Take as much time as you need 4A games, I want the best Metro LL experience I can get so by all means take your time with it.
  • Take your time, polish, smooth out the wrinkles.  Game looks amazing and I am very much looking forward to continuing my trek through the Metro.

  • Glad to see it's still being released. My son is going to loose his mind. lol. He has been anxiously waiting for this game, since he first heard about it. With my current backlog of games...I can stand to wait a bit longer. Especially, when it involves much needed polish to make a quality game.

  • what game doesn't need additional polish people
  • I'm good with this.  Any delay to polish it up is fine by me.

  • This is going to be a very expensive year for gaming!

  • WOOT....finally a new release date.
