Frolic Through The Woods On Armored Spider Mounts In Neverwinter

Armored spiders (shown frolicking happily in the video below) are the stars of Neverwinter’s Hero of the North Founder’s Pack program. The pack guarantees access and VIP perks to Neverwinter’s second beta weekend for a limited time on March 8-10 and March 22-24, as well as access to a unique playable race and companion.

The upcoming game will also make an appearance at PAX East in the form of playable demos featuring the latest pre-launch updates, and the Great Weapon Fighter class – available to the public for the first time.

In other Neverwinter news, author R.A. Salvatore (The Legend of Drizzt) will be signing books at the video game convention, and promoting his latest novel, The Last Threshold, the fourth book in the Neverwinter Saga, releasing on March 5. The book signing takes place on March 22 through March 23 from 3 to 4 p.m. EST at the Neverwinter booth.

"Neverwinter is one of the most anticipated games of 2013 and we're happy to once again participate in PAX East, with a bigger booth, more gameplay, and one of America's best known fantasy authors," says Andrew Brown, general manager of Perfect World Entertainment. "Last year's event was amazing and we're looking forward to showing Boston what's new."

On a last note, those interested in the direction MMORPGs are heading can visit the Future of Online Games panel led by Neverwinter lead producer Andy Velasquez on March 22 at 5:30 p.m EST.

PAX East takes place from March 22 to March 24 in Boston, Massachusetts.

  • Damn. Wish I played that game.

  • Looks cool. Hope the game turns out to be really good to play.
  • Pretty.

  • Winter is coming...
  • Please don't suck.

  • Really looking forward to launch, got the Guardian pack and have had a blast with the first beta weekend. Can't wait til the next >.<

  • Armored snake Ftw

  • i'll play this, maybe get to max level, probably quit soon after that, it's what happened with guild wars 2. i hated the instances in guild wars 2, they felt broken hard, or maybe i suck.
i just realised i'm arachnophobic and wouldn't wan't to be staring at those disgusting spiders all night anyway
  • One of the most anticipated games of 2013? I haven't heard about it before.
  • Can't wait

  • The animations look pretty bad.  The walking character looks very rigid.  Not sure how to feel about this game yet.

  • I remember playing this at last year's PAX East and being very impressed. Sadly I missed the first beta weekend but I should be able to participate in the March 8-10 event. The one thing I'm kinda bummed about is that, as with DDO, monks don't appear to be one of the classes included with the game's launch. I'm sure they'll add them at some point after Neverwinter's release but it is disheartening to once again be left out of playing my favorite D&D class.....
  • Ingenious. Lol, and you thought spiders were only in RPGs as enemies... Now they invade MMOs as pets.
  • Hahaha nice....

  • I was actually offered to beta test that game ...I declined it. still don't want to play it. spiders..don't care much it's just a spider

  • Ugh.... with the track record has with some of their games I wouldn't surprise me if this game was heavily focused on the "cash shop" mentality. PWE is notorious for this. Anyone looked at how much that "founders" status is to get that fancy mount?
  • *** Spiders -_-

  • $200 for that package on a game that will no doubt be a P2W mmo from PW's history. NW3 looked good until I found out each class is restricted to a certain weapon and the fact Perfect World is running it. No game is worth $200 lol especially to run around as a Drizzt clone like everyone will end up doing.
  • i'll be the second to say.. Please Don't Suck

  • I know there's a ton of negativity being aimed at this game's way (Negativity? On the Internet? That's unthinkable!), but the armored Spiders are awesome here:)
