PS4's Interface Shown In High Definition

Goodbye Cross Media Bar, hello future.

Sony has sent out high-res images of the PlayStation 4 interface as seen in its coming-out party, which you can browse in the gallery below. Tablet- and smartphone-sized versions of the interface are shown as well.

What do you think? Better or worse than the XMB we've come to know and tolerate over the years?

  • It looks pretty nice.
  • not bad I guess. still would like something more similar to the XMB
  • Eh don't care really. Guess I'll get used to it

  • It's more similar to PSN's updated look... Neither good nor bad. The guy has more trophies than even Mojo!
  • Where's all the advertisements? Wait a second, this isn't Xbox LIVE. :)
  • When Windows 8 and Xbox does large tiles, it's an insult... when Sony does large tiles, people love it... what is wrong with people?!!!
  • It's like a... Unicolor Windows 8.

I like the streaming and social options, but I'm not sold on the layout. I wonder which one the home screen is or if it's even shown?
  • It isn't blowing my mind.

  • Looks similar to the PS Store redesign, which I don't care for. Hopefully it won't feel as cluttered and laggy.
  • Looks just like the horrendous Playstation Store.
  • Looks pretty simple which is not a bad thing
  • Shoutout to Day Z on the DayZ gamertag.
  • It looks sleek but I wish it had more a....nice looking interface.

  • I like ps3 much more my beautiful dynamic wallpaper.
  • I see a guy in the picture who has 2,738 trophies at a trophy level that's 16. So you can actually transport PSN data and trophies from your PS3 to PS4!!!!!!! I KNEW IT!! I KNEW SONY WAS LYING TO US!!!!
  • looks the same as PS3's current one and I'm cool with that.

  • Im really only interested in the games. I know some people go crazy for user interface and other stuff like that but i buy consoles simply to play games on it.
  • From a Xbox user standpoint, it looks at least as good as the Xbox Dashboard. The blue and black background is calming, the composition is excellent, and the lack of ads (something MS plasters all over the dashboard) is less intimidating, oddly enough.

  • So I guess all PS4 gamers are hot models that love smiling and looking good? The layout is a little cluttered and chaotic looking. I do like the idea of watching someone else play and being able to reply to comments though.
