Anomaly 2 Bringing More Tower Offense This Summer

by Adam Biessener on Feb 28, 2013 at 07:54 AM

11bit Studios announced a proper sequel to its "tower offense" title Anomaly: Warzone Earth today. Anomaly 2 adds multiplayer, the ability to play as the defensive towers instead of the offensive convoy, and a new unit-morphing mechanic.

Set in a post-apocalyptic future where the alien machines have conquered Earth and desperate convoys of humans roam the wasteland scavenging food and supplies, Anomaly 2 builds on the original's concept of navigating a maze of towers with a slowly moving convoy of vehicles supported by godlike commander powers.

Every unit has a "mech form" with alternate capabilities, adding new tactical options. Multiplayer allows two players to go head-to-head, one as the towers and the other as the convoy. Alternate endings await players depending on their decisions during the single-player campaign. Above all, Anomaly 2 has a great foundation to build on and looks to be a solid evolution of the concept rather than a glorified level pack like 11bit's last release.

Anomaly 2 comes to PC, Mac, and Linux this summer. Given the first game's success on mobile platforms, we assume that iOS and Android versions are in the works as well though the developer has not confirmed that at this time.
