QuakeCon 2013 Dated

Id and Bethesda Softworks have announced the dates for the annual QuakeCon. If you want to check out the free event, book your ticket to Dallas at the beginning of August.

More specifically, the event is from August 1-4 and it will take place at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas. This year marks the 18th anniversary of QuakeCon's legendary bring-your-own-computer LAN party, which attracts thousands of players – making it the largest such gathering in North America.

We'll have additional details on panels and guests in the coming months. In the meantime, visit the official QuakeCon site for video of past talks and more.

    DOOM FOUR. Also Quake 5 would be nice. Especially if it's a return to the gothic, Lovecraftian, Medieval horror vibe of the first (and third?) one. Of course, this is id. Even with their new overlords, Bethesda, prodding them, they take forever to do anything. So I'm going to keep my expectations in check and assume... nothing. John Carmack will talk about the Oculus Rift and they'll show nothing new and it'll be lame. But Bethesda will come to the rescue with, like, 5 games to show. Including a first look at Dishonored 2, and the new Wolfenstein. Maybe Rise of the Triad too (even though they're not publishing it). They'll probably have a tech demo or something, to show off what the next Elder Scrolls for PS4, PC and Xbox3 will look like. Prey 2 could re-emerge. And Elder Scrolls Online could show up. Yeah, Bethesda will probably kill it.
