The lights are on
[Update] More information and some blurry screenshots, via Examiner.com, have surfaced on Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.To see the new images, you can click over to Examiner's original story. The site also posted some new information about the game, including this:"The main characters name is Edward Kenway, father of Haytham Kenway from Assassin's Creed 3. Edward is known as a Privateer, Assassin and occasional pirate. The games location is set in the Caribbean on multiple islands including Jamaica, Cuba and the Bahamas."
Website Kotaku has published a report and a promotional
image regarding the next Assassin's Creed game, which is to be titled Assassin's
Creed: Black Flag and will deal with pirates.
Kotaku says they received a scan of a promotional poster for
the game from a tipster. To see the image, head over to Kotaku's original
story. According to the report, the poster will be in stores on March 4. The
image shows a white-hooded assassin fighting alongside a stereotypical pirate.
(By the way, in case you are NOT PUNK, that's not the game's
official logo, just a little fun I had with Pixlr and the iconic Black Flag

Oh my god, yes. Haytham's father? I want this now.
I love the AC franchise; I've played all of them and have thoroughly enjoyed them all (I'd say the weakest were Revelations and maybe the first) but I feel like they really need to let this series rest for another year or two. I don't want to see a series I love become stagnant and repetitive, and they need to give other franchises a moment to shine. I mean, what happened with Rainbow Six: Patriots? How about a new Prince of Persia to go with the new generation of consoles? How about just focusing on polishing up Watch Dogs for now?
This looks like a great turn for the franchise. Very nice choice!
THEY LISTENED TO ME YAAAAAAAY
I know I can't be the only one who hopes this means the next Assassin's Creed entry will be set during the Spanish Civil War, with the backdrop of fascists versus anarchists.
Ah bummer, it's just a pirate game. Oh well, a pirate game could be awesome too.
Strange to see a Black Flag reference here, like two worlds colliding.
This sounds really dumb and disappointing...
Not sure how I feel about this, but I guess I can't really judge until I get some more concrete details on the game. Th ships were really fun in AC 3 but the next game should not be solely focused on that. Oh well, I'll still buy it.
That is BY FAR, the single greatest image for an article in the history of video game articles. Matt.. you are awesome.
This is wonderful news if true, I mean, since they set the standard with with the wilderness in AC3 I can totally see them doing more with that on the islands. Also, since it will most likely be a next gen game, then we may see multiple islands in their entirety as replacements for Boston and New York.
In terms of playing Haythams Father, Im sold. I dont know about everyone else who played AC3, but I would like to know what happened to Haytham that made him become a templar. He was obviously an Assassin at some point, given his skills of parkour and hidden blades, which represent Assassins almost exclusively. (Anyone else notice how the Assassin symbol buckle on his hidden blade was broken? Possibly to indicate broken ties or lost trust in the order?)
Any Assassins Creed news is great news in my opinion! Let the speculation begin!
Considering all the positive feedback that naval missions received in AC3, this makes proper sense to me. Also Pirates! Who doesn't like pirates?? I'm so surprised that there isn't oversaturation in the Pirate video game market the way there is with Zombies.
So Edward is an assassin, Haytham is a Templar and Connor is an assassin.
What the hell happened?
The official facebook page also posted this today:
"Our Community seems oddly attracted to Pirates lately… Some are even going as far as changing their Facebook language setting to PIRATE!"
I have played the 3rd one and I'm not going to get the next one.
Count me in!!
Take my treasure chests!
