The lights are on
Among a number of additions and updates to the franchise, Blizzard says Diablo III will not need to have a continuous connection to the internet for multiplayer on PS3 and PS4. The game will allow for online co-op and local co-op.
"You can have four people on the same screen - no split-screen, we just zoom the camera out. Or if you're offline," says production director John Hight.
Hight mentions a new evasion capability that can be used to dodge enemies and no longer do players need to click and move. With the ease of an analog stick, movement will be smoother, which heightens the action.
Blizzard will be showcasing the console version of Diablo III at Pax East 2013, which will include live, hands-on gameplay. You can watch the full interview here.

Nice, that was a big no-no for the PC version so I'm glad they're avoiding that this time.
*smiles a huge grin* I. Am. Buying. This. On. Day. One. :D
Sounds pretty sweet, hopefully they'll finish it soon. Unfortunately, Blizzard can have a habit of dragging things out, though...
Oh man, I thought this was going to just be on PS4. Glad to see it's coming to PS3, so I'll be able to check out and see what the hubbub is about. And offline!
WOW! When they release this they better have a nice big update for PC or else this is a big slap in the face -_-
Oh, Blizz. You're about a year too late on this one, pal.
Well, the fact that there is 4-player local multiplayer makes this a must buy for the PS4.
Well, what's old is now--wait, it's still old. Darn.
Awesome. I guess I'm getting D3 for PS3 then :D I avoided the PC version like the plague cos of that DRM nonsense.
Ohhhh!! I might just be tempted to get it if I don't have to mess with any online junk :)
Awesome! I can already envision the looting sessions that my friends and I will have when this comes out!
It should have on PC.
