Microsoft Gearing Up For Xbox Event

Sony has just announced the PlayStation 4, and more signs point to Microsoft closely following suit.

NeoGAF has found what appears to be an xboxevent.com domain registration from event coordinators Eventcore.

This doesn't come as a big surprise given that Game Informer has previously heard that both Sony and Microsoft were planning one-off announcement events this spring, but it's good to see some corroboration that our original intel was correct.

  • Sweet cant wait to see what they have in store for us.

  • Coo beans. Hopefully it'll be better than rumored

  • Looking forward to seeing how they innovate. As long as there is competition between Sony and Microsoft, we the consumers win big.
  • Well lets see how many things they copy from PlayStation 4. I'm telling you guys PS4 is the Future.
  • ok sony tighten up those butt holes its our turn
  • Yay! I can't wait to see how Kinect will be shoved down our throats this time! I wonder if they'll have an irrelevant celebrity guest?
  • Is it strange that all this talk of next-gen consoles gives me a boner?! : /
  • I'm pretty excited for this. I had tons of fun with my Xbox this gen, and I'm waiting to see what they come up with now. I don't mind a Kinect sensor coming with it as long as Kinect movement isn't a requirement for all games.
  • Let me guess....Microsoft will bring put some celebs..Horrible line of kinect games...Probably 1-3 exclusives...I don't know if they could possibly copy Sony in such a short period of time but if they do I know they will take a lot of heat from just about everyone. I think the hardware would be up to par with Sony, if not Sony will have waaaay more sales and lose tons of customers. Third party developers would flock to Sony. Butttttt if Microsoft ends up being better even tho the consoles been neck and neck for years it would be vice versa. I own both consoles, they both have their perks but I'm kinda going with Sony with this one.
  • Holy delayed reactions Batman! I sent this tip in on Saturday afternoon.

  • Microsoft's version of one-upping: add celebrities and show the console. Also, put an executive in really trendy clothing that he surely MUST wear outside of events too, because he is a cool guy first, an executive second. (reference to 360 unveiling and cool exec. in a hooded suit.)
  • Cant wait for more news on this.

  • After that terrible "reveal" of the PS4, anything is welcomed. Three tips, show the damn console, say the words backwards compatible and show a new core IP. We know they will show Kinect 2.0 and some social functions, just like Sony did, I mean the PS4 is shipping with a camera much like Kinect and they even brought the Move back out. So Microsoft has the upper hand. Cant wait!
  • Also, 2 versions: a 256MB storage XBOX that will retail for $399.99 (upgrading memory will not be an option), and a 1 terabite version that glows in the dark AND comes with a bunch of downloaded crap for 499.99. Oh, and you have to buy a controller charger seperate and it only comes with standard TV hookups, so RGB or HDMI will be in your cart too. Oh yeah, and launch games will be 50 dollars, except for the one anyone actually wants (ala Halo esq) which will be $74.99
  • Hopefully the Alan Wake 2 rumor is true, loved the first game.
  • Holding back the box reveal allows Sony to have the most highly anticipated E3 since before this generation of games. I'd think Microsoft is business savvy enough to understand the need for a huge E3 and save some reveals for it as well.
