AVP War Spills Onto Mobile Platforms

The Xenomorph's decades-long battle against the Predator comes to iOS and Android platforms with AVP: Evolution.

This third-person action game lets you pick your side of the battle. As an Alien, you start off as a measily Facehugger and eventually evolve into a fearsome Alien Warrior. On the Predator side, as your young blood racks up a kill count you can work your way up to becoming a master hunter.

AVP: Evolution is coming to iOS and Android devices on February 28 courtesy of Fox Digital Entertainment and Angry Mobs Games. Hopefully it won't suffer the same fate as the much maligned Aliens: Colonial MarinesTo see the game in action, check out this trailer:

  • This looks fun.

  • Looks like a game from 2005... Damn iOS games.
  • Face Huggers implant the warriors, not evolve into them? Or... Did I miss something?
  • 0:30 FINISH HIM! Fatality
  • Well, it looks better than A:CM, but that isn't really saying much.

  • Am I the only one getting tired of seeing AVP? Why not keep them separate.. If Aliens is going to fail, keep Predator out of it haha
  • right after colonial marines, I don't know if this will be popular

  • Never seen an Alien do combos like that before.

  • Oh here we go.

  • looks meh

  • Clearly uses a late PS2 technology...
  • Uh-huh...

  • This looks terrible, but it might be better than Colonial Marines. Why, Gearbox, why?!?
  • Probably better than ACM.

  • It would be kind of funny and sad if this iOS game ended up being better than the recent console Alien and Predator games.
  • The best Aliens handheld game - heck, one of the best Aliens ever - is Wayforward's "Aliens: Infestation" for DS. It's the only one smart enough to look at Metroid to understand how to craft tension and dread and build on exploring a mysterious locale... and not just look at typical shooter stuff and do that.

If Sega wants to get some serious money from their Aliens license, they'll forget Rebellion's AVP, ignore Gearbox's travesty, and ask Wayforward to remake Infestations for HD consoles. Redo the whole thing like a Shadow Complex or a Bionic Commando ReARMED, and put it on Steam, eShop, PSN and XBLA. Get that game to waaaaaaay more gamers!

  • well dunno. hope its free.

  • Sweeet.

  • Looks pretty good but I could see clumsy controls being an issue, especially on a phone.

  • Bet it turns out better than Colonial Marines.
