PlayStation 4 Will Have A Blu-ray Disc Drive

We didn't get to see the hardware during Sony's press event, which led to speculation of important factors like whether or not the PlayStation 4 will have a disc drive. Sony has confirmed that the console will accept discs.

i didn't even think about it not having 1 while watching the confrence. honestly it would be dumb to get rid of physical copies atm .. maybe next next-gen but not this time , not everyone has net everywhere yet.

Not a big surprise either, but good to know. If a transition to digital-only is in the cards, it'd probably be with a future Slim version of the console, just to make the transition optional and softer.

So, there is hope that the PS4 will be backwards compatible with PS3 games. Thank Jeebus...

edit: I didn't hear about it not being backwards compatible, but can't I dream?... Well, that just means I get to hang on to the PS3 a bit longer...

While I'm sad the ps4 won't be backwards compatible, I am glad Sony isn't alienating gamers with slow connection speeds by making the console digital only.
