The lights are on
Blizzard senior vice president of story and franchise development Chris Metzen took the stage to
announce that the developer is getting back into console game development thanks to a
new partnership with Sony. The relationship is starting with a title fans
already know and love.
After joking that Blizzard and Sony have plans to take over
the world together, Metzen reminded the audience that Blizzard started out as a
console game developer, and that the studio has been waiting for the right time
to return to its roots. That meant picking a title that translates well to home consoles, which the company believes it now has.
The first game Blizzard is bringing to Sony consoles is none
other than Diablo III, which will be released on both PS3 and PS4. Metzen says
they've completely retooled Diablo III for consoles, which includes an
optimized user interface and a new control scheme that allows players to take
direct control of their avatars. The game also features a new four-player
co-op mode that lets you and your friends play on a single screen.
Metzen says Blizzard will announce more at PAX East, but if
Blizzard's console games are indeed exclusive to Sony, it's a major get for the

That is awesome. Straight awesomness. Not sure about DIII on PS3 AND PS4 but whatever, there will be plenty of people that won't get a ps4 right away.
Also, wow, there is a LOT of whiny people commenting on all Sony news.
Yay! Now PS4 owners can join in on the disappointment too!
Can't wait, this seems like a smart move for both parties, and for consumers as well!
no offence to ps3 players (i have one and i play it often along with my pc and xbox) but i personally think its gonna blow nuts compared to pc
Will you be able to log into it with your existing battlenet account? Or do you have to repurchase the game for ps3 even if you already have the pc version?
I get the strong impression that Diablo III will probably come to all consoles (PS3 and 4, Xbox 360 and Next, and Wii U), they just didn't want to steal all of Sony's thunder tonight.
Good for sony. But I've already beaten diablo 3 and wasn't impressed with it. I also don't play rts anymore, so I don't think there are any blizzard games I care about.
Too bad it's D3. :/
if blizzard games are going to be exclusive.......count me in.
I was expecting Diablo III to finally hit consoles, so the PS4 announcement was no surprise. It should run smoothly on that hardware.
Will they still do the auction house? If it would be cross compatible with PC gamers that would be nice but I doubt that will happen.
I'm curious to see how well D3 will control on the new PS4. Shouldn't be too hard for them. I still prefer a mouse and keyboard for dungeon crawlers.
