The lights are on
The new PlayStation may offer gamers a chance to try out cloud-streaming technology, allowing developers to run software on server systems and stream it off the internet. Kazuo Hirai, Sony Chief Executive, took lead in a deal to purchase Gaikai Inc., the game in development using the new “cloud-gaming” technology.
As we reported last week, Sony's new console will stream old games over the internet using technology from a company called Gaikai Inc. Now, according to the Wall Street Journal, The new PlayStation will also allow players to share their gaming experience openly with social media including gameplay videos via YouTube and achievements. Cloud-gaming could eventually lead to the the capability of Sony smartphones and televisions tapping into the games that require high-end graphics, or allow cross platform play against people playing on their mobile devices.
In July, head of Sony’s video game unit, Andrew House, said Gaikai acquisition was a "recognition on Sony's part that the cloud and cloud-streaming technologies are going to have a profound and possibly a very positive impact."
pretty damn interesting.... The deciding factor is used game lock though.
i see alot of pissed off people with loss connections and restarting there games cause they didnt get to save there spot just give us ps3 games to download to are harddrive and we will be fine
dang, come Wednesday Sony's not gonna have anything to report!
Awesomesauce...got my Xperia Play right here lol
I'm rather skeptical about how well cloud gaming would actually work, at least in the case of people who don't have reliable or very high speed connections. After all, my PlayStation 3 right now is hooked up to the internet via wi-fi and is not directly connected to the modem.
It all sounds boring as hell to me. And anything that actually is cool with have a huge catch.
Sony's smartphone line-up sucks so much
Amazing, cant wait to wensday, so excited for the ps4
this sites reporting goes out the window.
Not to mention even if that fake rumorw as true that would suck
Lets go PS4!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont know about the streaming though, because without good internet, it wont be the best feature.
That's pretty cool!!! If it's true.. AWESOME!
There have been a wide variety of rumors leading up to Feb 20th. A lot of these rumors for the PS4, if it is announced tomorrow, aren't really make or break type deals for me. Either way I'm excited to see what the PS4 has in store for us.
Called it. I knew that the streaming was going to focus on smart phones.
The whole Social Media thing and being able to connect while playing sounds a lot like MiiVerse.
