[Update] Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey Hits Its Kickstarter Funding Goal

[Update] Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey's Kickstarter is over, and Red Thread Games made a haul, nearly doubling its original goal.

The now closed Kickstarter campaign raised a whopping $1,538,425 for the development of the point-and-click adventure sequel. Not bad!

[Original Story]

Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey, the hopeful Kickstarter sequel to Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, has met its funding goal in plenty of time.

The Kickstarter doesn't close its funding for another 21 days, so you can still get on board if you'd like.

The Longest Journey and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey are point and click adventure games that released back in 1999 and 2006 respectively. The new game in series will continue to follow the tale of Zoë Castillo, the Dreamer, and will be overseen by the series' original creator Ragnar Tørnquist.

  • Great for them. Never heard of the series though.. Big fan of Secret of Monkey Island series though, so i might just have to look out for this one :)
  • God I love this series.

  • I didn't even know this was a thing! Glad I still have time to chip in. It's awesome that point-and-click adventures are seeing a bit of a return to the limelight. I hope there's a Maniac Mansion/DotT reboot/sequel in the near future.

  • awesome i'm still on the lookout for the first two.
  • That's very good to hear. I have the first game but have yet to complete it with so much on my plate.

  • Glad to see there making this. I Enjoyed the first two. There good games if you enjoy lots of dialog and a weird sci/fi story.
  • That's great. Dreamfall: Longest Journey was one of the first games I bought where I was tired of going on stupid, pointless, cartoonishly violent and incredibly easy homicidal rampages - which means, I was tired of 90% of today's game. I was done with shooters, basically. I wanted to try an adventure game - talking to people, solving puzzles, exploring a rich, creative world. But I loathe pointing and clicking, so Dreamfall was basically the only option in town (it was designed for the Xbox controller). Even with it's faults, I found it to be a real cool game. I'm all aboard for more of this series. Glad it got it's funding. Same with the new Broken Sword title that's coming out. It's awesome that Kickstarter can do this.

Dreamfall was also the first game I bought digitally, on IGN's Direct2Drive! Now, Gamefly, I think.

Now, people, we just need to make sure the Phosphor Games' amazing, ambitious open world super hero game, "Awakened" get's funded:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1312036782/project-awakened. With Realtime Worlds and Radical closed, we're not going to get new Crackdown and Prototype games; this genre needs a new entry. And Awakened LETS YOU MAKE YOUR OWN POWERS AND HEROES! It's really amazing stuff. It's also powered by Unreal 4. Seriously people, pledge money to this one!
  • Interesting

  • Cool!!

  • I bought the first "The Longest Journey" on a steam sale a little while ago because it looked really interesting. Can't wait to play it, and hopefully the rest of the series!

  • So they're working the title backwards?

  • Already pledged and can't wait!!!
