Weekend Warrior 02/15/13

by Louis Garcia on Feb 15, 2013 at 01:00 PM

The weather in Minnesota is still chilling to the bone, so there will be a lot of gaming going on this weekend. Someone promises to finally continue Far Cry 3, while others will visit the frights of Dead Space 3 – as well as the frighteningly horrible Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Ben Hanson: This weekend I'm going to start playing Ni No Kuni. I'm not the most excited for the game, but maybe I'm just slightly burned out on RPGs. On top of that, I recently started playing Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty's campaign for the second time in preparation for Heart of the Swarm. I loved that game when it came out in 2010, and the campaign has held up remarkably well. Play it now. Alright, have a good weekend!

Jeff Marchiafava: Last weekend I tried to use reverse psychology to get myself back into Far Cry 3. Turns out it didn’t work – I just ended up playing a bunch of pinball instead. In addition to Ubisoft’s open-world shooter, I’ve also got The Witcher 2 on my plate for this weekend. Which game will win out? Probably pinball.

Jeff Cork: I’m planning on playing some more Sleeping Dogs this weekend. It was one of those games I didn’t spend much time with, and I’m enjoying it a lot. I might pick up Dead Space 3, too. That one seems like another one of those polarizing titles, and I always like to see what’s going on with those types of games for myself.

Kyle Hilliard: I like to play games is alphabetical order, which is why after finishing up Dead Space 3, I can finally start Devil May Cry. I also need to finish Antichamber, which breaks my alphabetical pattern. Never mind.

Andy McNamara: PlanetSide 2 and Dead Space 3 will rule this weekend, with a fair amount of Clash of Clans when necessary. In an odd twist, we have some game developer guests in town this weekend, so going to hang out with them and perhaps see a super secret game. What can I say? I'm willing to go the extra mile and "work" on the weekend.

Andrew Reiner: I have a busy weekend planned. Kelly and I are still trucking through Ni no Kuni. I would imagine we're over halfway done with the game. We're playing it at a slow pace – finishing all of the side quests and obtaining as many monsters as we can. When we aren't playing that game, my time is going to Dead Space 3 (which I love), and two games I'm firing up for the first time: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Matthew Kato: Hope to be digging into Far Cry 3 some more. I'm not that far into the game, but I can already see some of its potential. I'm hoping to be surprised even still! I've been nibbling around the edges of the game, and hope to get substantial enough time this weekend to really explore it.

Louis Garcia: My girlfriend is coming up from southern Wisconsin, so that means we’ll be enjoying some Dead Space: Extraction and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7. Since we just rewatched the Alien movies, as well as Prometheus, we may also rent Aliens: Colonial Marines just to see how terrible it is. We had such high hopes for the lovable Chestbursters!

Kayla Herrera: Since failing to find the missing Xbox copy of Silent Hill 2 that was delivered to my house, I plan on spending the weekend getting back into Borderlands 2 on my PC. Back when I had to review it, I played it for hours and hours. There is so much to do, and so many side quests that it never gets tedious.
