The lights are on
January's NPD numbers are in, and it was a historically rough month for Nintendo's new console. Gamasutra estimates that the system moved between 45,000 and 59,000 units for the month. These figures are especially noteworthy, as they mean the Wii U had a worse month than Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 have had in their entire existence.
It's obviously not great news for Nintendo, but the publisher seems aware of the problem. Recent Nintendo Direct streams have addressed the lack of excitement, and they hope for a strong 2013 with new Virtual Console support and the announcement of big games like Mario, Mario Kart, and a Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker remake.

who cares all systems turn around, the 3ds had worse months, and now its the top global system.
People doom and gloom early for kicks, but it hardly ever happens
nintendo having hard time at wii u... meanwhile at 3ds...
so are you guys ever going to get a picture of the actual gamepad for your site?
This is going to be expected for February as well. With Ubisoft putting Rayman in the closet until Spetember and March being the next big release, the bundles Nintendo did aren't going to entice people to buy one.
That's kinda sad. I really hope it gets better. The system has issues but still seems solid. Scary sales numbers.
PS4 should come out around the time to encourage Nintendo to drop the WiiU price /snatch
Yow, that's low. But then, they've barely marketed the damn thing.
Nintendo should fire their marketing team. They also should have released a console with all of it's hardware and features ready out of the box. All the stuff that is up and coming like the virtual console should have already been up and running. Besides the only big game on the horizon is the remake of a title that is nearly a decade old. Nintendo will end up like sega. Producing games for other systems. That is all they will be good for.
people wont soon forget all the shovelware nintendo dumped on consumers last go round...I guess you could say the Wii left a bad taste in peoples mouths HAAHAHAHAHAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA...ahhhh im a child.
it'll pick up when more games start to come out :/
