The lights are on
With the announcement of the next PlayStation right around the corner, rumors and leaks have already started to circulate in anticipation of the February 20 event. Meanwhile the Wall Street Journal has announced that it believes Sony's next console will be able to stream PlayStation 3 titles off the cloud.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Sony's new console will stream old games over the internet using technology from a company Sony acquired last year. This means that the PS4 won't have the same backwards compatibility issues that the PS3 struggled with. Last year Sony announced that it had purchased cloud based gaming company Gaikai for over $380 million, so this all seems to line up. We'll be excited to get confirmation on all this news next week.

I think the problem with the whole streaming this is, available internet is starting to not be able to handle it all.
Since so many things are going cloud, it's questionable whether ISP's will allow the monthly bandwidth. I use Steam, and Netflix just as a couple of examples, not counting any online gaming. I do not do other large downloading so I'm currently well within my limits. I enjoy fast internet, and since my speed is up in a middle tier, my ISP has a limit of 250 GB a month due to the speed at which I can download. The highest tier above me has the same 250 GB limit. The tier below me, because it's speed is half of mine, does not have a monthly limit.
I think cloud is great, and am all for it, however I feel the cloud progression is going faster than ISP's allow for monthly usage. :/
Hmm... if they could offer to stream more than PS3 games, and prove that it'll run well, that'd actually be a compelling offer. So long as they didn't charge for each game individually.
I'm Ok with that feature, anyway if I want to play ps3 games I will still have my ps3 and for the next gen games I will have the ps4. At least I don't have any problems with this, bring on the ps4.
before I looked at the receipt that said $5484, I be certain ...that...my brothers friend could really bringing in money parttime on their apple laptop.. there brothers friend had bean doing this for only about 17 months and resantly cleared the dept on their cottage and got a great new Ford Mustang. This is gonna be a good year!
Backwards compatibility would certainly be nice. I feel bad for the people who don't have internet access though...
This makes me happy, I hate getting a new console and having to keep a old version just to play games that I love. All consoles should be able to play games made for the past generation of consoles.
only 4 more days.
Or they mite do what they did with ps2 games and remake the ps3 games in a higher resolution like 4k maybe? But all in all i hope the ps4 plays my ps3 games.
I hope it Sony does do anything " PS4 Stream exclusive" because sometimes I just love looking at all my games/cases I have collected over the years. I even buy all my dlc at the store so I can place the cards in the case. Just something I would like to keep doing.
I hope it streams to my Vita as well
That is awesome, I have been waiting for something like this.
my co-worker's mom makes $63 an hour on the laptop. She has been without a job for 7 months but last month her check was $17564 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Read more on this site http://www.bit90.com
Sony certainly needs to make this compatible with the Vita. It almost seems like Sony has given up on it already.
