Update: New Leaf trailer shows some of the activities in the new 3DS title.

Nintendo showed off the latest Animal Crossing game, New Leaf, during its Nintendo Direct presentation. It includes a host of upgraded and new features to the game

Players won't have to worry about working to pay off Tom Nook's loan, which GameCube vets know is a huge relief. Players will have to plant a memorial tree, but Nintendo's Bill Trinen says that's the only real obligation players will face.

Social interaction is an even bigger part of the game, and players won't have to lug around memory cards to do so. Instead, the 3DS Street Pass functionality is used to make the process of downloading and visiting friends' homes and towns easier.

New Leaf also allows players to customize the exterior of their homes and expand (and share) their wardrobes of custom clothing and patterns.

Look for the game this June.
