Tribes: Ascend Getting The Game Of The Year Treatment

Hi-Rez Studios just announced that the free-to-play shooter Tribes: Ascend will be receiving a Game of the Year Edition. Launching this Friday, it allows gamers to unlock every single weapon, class, and perk with a single purchase.

Those that prefer to keep it free don't need to worry, however. “Nothing changes for players that are enjoying the game with the free-to-play model," according to Todd Harris, COO of Hi-Rez.

In addition to the GOTY edition, Hi-Rez will also be launching six new maps, a new Shocklance weapon, and two new skins for all players. The GOTY edition will go for $29.99 on tribesascend.com and Steam this Friday.

I've spent twice that much money to unlock a fourth of the content.
200 hours of grinding for another half. I still only have 75% of stuff.

And now people can get every single thing in a few seconds for 30 dollars?

Wow, that's just mean as *** to long-time players like me.

This is surprising. It going from free-to-play to a $29.99 price tag.

I haven't played this game but the environment in that screenshot looks a lot like one you would find in a Halo game to me :D

I can't wait to get this game when I get a laptop in about 4 months! I love playing as Engineer or Infiltrator! I'm gonna download this, Planetside 2, Minecraft and Guild Wars 2. When does SimCity come out?
