The lights are on
The British Academy of Film and Television has announced the nominees for its Games Awards. The three titles with the most possible honors are Thatgamecompany's Journey, along with Telltale's The Walking Dead, and Ubisoft's Far Cry 3.
Journey is up for eight awards, including BAFTA's Best Game award. The PS3 exclusive is up against Dishonored, Far Cry 3, FIFA 13, Mass Effect 3, and The Walking Dead in that category. The Walking Dead has earned seven nominations, and Far Cry 3 rounds out the top of the pack with six.
Last year, Portal 2 took the Best Game award. The BAFTA 2013 awards will be presented March 5.
Here's the complete list of nominees. Best of luck to all of them.

Um... what's Super Monsters Ate My Condo and why have I not played it yet?
Journey was a good game. It was artsy, had nice music, the graphics were great in some spots and pretty basic in others. Your character was very strange and didn't do or say a whole lot. Although, the way you flew and collected more stamina was cool. There was a great sense of loneliness and a need to explore with your unknown companion. I guess my biggest gripe was how short it was. It will stay in my memories for many years to come but it is far from the best game I have played in a while. I hope that game company continues to make the kind of experiences that they seem to turn out every couple years.
I hope this doesn't turn into a popularity contest. Oh wait! It already has. I'm happy for all the nominees but some of them don't really deserve recognition for that category. And once again... The mobile and handheld category is the worst for a game awards show.
You can do it Journey
Game Innovation: Black Ops 2. HAHAHAAHAHAHAHA Next joke.
I really like Journey but I don't think it deserves to be up for Best Multiplayer and Story of the year.
blops2 on best innovation?
If Black Ops 2 wins ANYTHING, I'll laugh at BAFTA and disregard anything they ever say about anything, anytime, for the rest of my life.
The only award that game should ever win should be along the lines of one of the worst games conceived.
Much luck to them, Journey was a phenomenal game.
Journey deserves every award it has already gotten and has been nominated for. Truly an outstanding game!
I would say Dark Souls is more Action than it is Strategy.
Halo's so gonna have it in the bag for multi-player, despite how fun Assassin's Creed III's was. Mass Effect 3 is SO gonna win best story and best game, I bet.
Excellent top three.
They have Dark Souls, Diablo 3 and Football Manager 2013 in the strategy category? They seriously need to have standalone RPG and sports categories. Also Black Ops 2 for innovation? Really?
Meh... I think some of these nominations make no sense. I don't understand awards. They're just an excuse to have a party, which is fine, but don't pretend that you're giving out awards.
Journey for best story? I think because the "story" was universal it touched so many. I think experience should be a category. You could put Journey under that... not story.
Mobile & handheld all lumped into one category? Are you serious? Those are completely different markets. v.v
No GW2 for online multiplayer? No RPG category?
Are they even serious about this? They're not even hiding that they don't know what the hell they're talking about.
