The lights are on
Santa Monica Studio has released a making-of video highlighting the cinematic process used for the creation of God of War: Ascension, including a tactic called vo-mocap, or voice-over motion capture.
The latest God Of War: Ascension trailer uses vo-mocap in order to bring the story of Kratos to life. By using vo-mocap, actors can come together during the scene and act out the characters in real time so that the movements and voices feel more natural, heightening the playing experience. Distances between the actors give them a better idea of how to react and where their character is in the scene. This way, the game becomes more cinematic and the animation process is made easier, skipping a couple of steps that would require extra work. Vo-mocap is a step in the right direction and represents one likely scenario of how stoyrtelling in video games will be produced in the coming years.

Sweet.
Soon my pet soon
I've played and enjoyed every God of War game (minus the cell phone game, never played that one), but for a game that's so close to release, am I the only one who doesn't feel like they're pushing this game as heavily as other early calendar year games? Mass Effect 3 had a ton of hype, same with God of War 3.
Either way, I think this looks phenomenal.
Troy Baker is in every freaking game!!!
This game will be off the wall! Man, it sure does look like it would take a long time from the art perspective.
cant wait....2 games per system...right?
Awesome.
So stoked for this. It will be well worth the wait.
Can't wait for this game!
I can't wait for this game. I love me some God of War.
