Journey Loses Grammy, Composer Still Ecstatic

by Jeff Marchiafava on Feb 11, 2013 at 12:51 PM

Last night Journey didn't win the award for Best Soundtrack For Visual Media, but composer Austin Wintory is still over the moon.

After congratulating Trent Reznor on the win via Twitter (Reznor and Atticus Ross won for their work on The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), Wintory tweeted the following upbeat message to his fans: "Obviously I didn't work on #JourneyPS3 hoping to win a Grammy. The entire point was the game itself and that's gone beyond my wildest dreams."

Journey was the first video game to be nominated for best soundtrack at the Grammys. While the loss is disappointing, Wintory can take solace in the fact that Journey dominated this year's D.I.C.E. awards, winning eight awards including Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition.

Curiously enough, Wintory's next project is the Kickstarter-funded Leisure Suit Larry remake; Wintory is a self-proclaimed fan of the classic point-and-click adventure series.
