Microsoft Studios Employee Lists Work On Four Unannounced IPs On Resume

An employee at Microsoft Studios says that he is hard at work on four unannounced intellectual properties for the company, which makes us wonder what Microsoft has in store for the next generation.

The employee in question is Jonathan Browne, a senior product manager/planner at Microsoft Studios. His LinkedIn profile says, "I have been the primary product manager on four unannounced new IP and have been a key contributor to bringing these IP from the very early concept phase through green light to production." Browne has worked with the SSX and Army of Two franchises, among others.

It makes the rumor mill churn with curiosity about what Microsoft has in mind for the future, and its next gen plans. Whatever Browne is working on could be for the Xbox 360, but new IPs aren't usually introduced this late in the game. It seems Microsoft has big plans for the future, and it may mean that it isn't planning to lean on franchises like Gears of War and Halo.

What do you think this could mean?

  • Kinect adventures 2
    kinect sports 2
    Halo 5
    Forza 5
  • Microsoft uses a different way of thinking than their competitors, they release new IP's to kick off a generation, which is when exclusives matter the most. By the middle portion of a generation third party games have caught up and the exclusives don't matter as much. Add 4 new core IP's from Microsoft to a stellar lineup like Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable, Alan Wake, Crackdown, Lost Odyssey ect... and you have a great future in gaming ahead.
  • Hopefully a lot, and I mean a lot, more exclusives.

  • Jerry the Giraffe took my "Where's Waldo" books a few weeks back. So get this, I asked that gender confused beast for it back, he texts me back(after a few days), "k". I had to bring it for show and tell last week, and I wanted to show people just how cool these books were. So I call him up, and he has me take a drive out to Pennsylvania (I'm in NYS) to pick them up. Now mind you, I trust him with my life ever since he promised to protect my social security number for an annual 599.99 American dollar fee (caught the pun? No? that sucks). So I get to class, and he CUT OUT EVERY WALDO IN EVERY BOOK!

I'm buying a kindle next time.
  • That Microsoft will put out a buggy console, deny there's a problem, blame it on their customers, sue somebody, then fix it kinda sorta.
  • Sadly at least 1/2 of any new IPs Microsoft announce will probably be for the next iteration of Kinect.
  • I REALLY hope that this means...when the 720 debuts that it will have many different and new game franchises.
  • Hopefully they are original and tend to the core gamer, not any family crap that microsoft keeps trying to convert us to.
  • Awesome, the more IP's the better.
  • Great news. Xbox cant compete with playstation on exclusives and i hope to see great ones im tired of only talking about Halo and Gears of War when i say xbox while ps3 has many exclusives
  • They need something else besides shooters and Forza. I love Halo but they need something else. Not that I find Sony's exclusives to be all that great. Next gen is a total toss up for right now.
  • So excited to hear this, hopefully not bs

  • Take a guess:  shooter, racer, kinect party game, and something possibly kinda interesting.

  • i hope this is true

  • Kinda off topic, but I would REALLY LOVE a NEW Perfect Dark. First-person spy action-adventure shooter.
  • idk i hope there good tho

  • Most likely shooters. Since...thats pretty much what anyone plays now-a-days. :/

  • Since the only reason people generally give you for playing Playstation is that it has a lot of exclusives, getting more exclusives on the Xbox seems like the logical choice. Take away the exclusives card, and what does Sony have left to get you to use its console? Bluray.
  • I think it could mean I'm actually excited to see what comes out of MS's exclusives for a change. Well.. outside of Mass Effect 1. That game is the bomb.
