EA's Origin Game Download Service Now Available For Macs

Electronic Arts' PC download service is no longer exclusively for PC games. Now you can use it download Mac compatible games, as well.

Along with all the requisite features from the PC version of Origin, like cloud saves and social networking options, you will also be able to buy a game once and play it on either operating system. As long as the game is compatible with both Mac and PC platforms, you only have to buy the game once to get both versions.

This isn't the full list, but at the moment EA has confirmed that Dragon Age 2, Batman: Arkham City GOTY Edition, LEGO Harry Potter, and The Sims 3 are all downloadable for Mac.

  • My only experience with origin was that of a forced one with a game I cant remember some time ago. It never struck me as that fantastic

  • I'm sure Mac users are happy that they finally GET DA2 and Origin. [/s]
  • YAAAAAY says all 0 Mac gamers.

  • Cool.

  • "Yay!!! I can't wait to download EA Origin to my computer!!!!!"

    SAID NOBODY, EVER!!!

  • Seems like now is a great time to buy a Mac and play some LEGO Harry Potter.
  • I still think it is ridiculous for EA to be doing this sort of exclusive downloading service (especially with all the problems I remember hearing about with BF3), but with example such as Blizzard and the desire to not give profit to Steam, it makes sense. I think it works better for blizzard though as a security handler since most of their games are online.
  • Steam>Origins
  • the hell? i have an origin account and i don't even remember how it happened >:( black magic i tell you!!! but seriously what would posses me to make one ? any who im deleting it -_-
  • Just curious, I used Origin once and it wasn't really that bad... Maybe I missed something because I only got one game on it but what's so bad?

Edit: What I got was the Crysis 3 MP Beta, and after 30 minutes I gave up because my computer specs are horrendous, pretty sure it was just the game though.
  • Good for Mac owners but how many Mac owners are gamers anyway?
  • grrr hate that ea grrr

  • rad

  • Now if only make the interface less awful and figure out how to price their own first-party games.

  • I am sure that 7-10 people are really happy about this.  Keep up the good work EA.

  • As a Mac user myself, I'm ecstatic!
  • Origin... on a Mac...

  • I'm guessing this is why I can't find dead space 3 on steam... Guess I'm gonna have to get DS3 for Xbox.

  • At least EA knows about the number 3.

  • Still doesn't mean it doesn't suck.
