The lights are on
A group calling themselves Mane6 has been working on an unlicensed fighting game based on the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic TV show for the last two years. Unfortunately, Hasbro has shut the project down.
According to the group's official blog, Hasbro sent them a cease and desist letter asking them, "to cease game development, remove any materials that might contain My Little Pony characters, names, locations or related elements from the sites we control (Our site, our youtube, our twitch), and 'cease any further use of [their] MY LITTLE PONY property'."
Mane6 has complied with Hasbro's request, removing all content from their site.
Mane 6 has responded to Hasbro's letter saying, "We have attempted negotiating with Hasbro for the continued use of the property in our non-profit, voluntary project, but so far we haven't received an answer."
There is one Hasbro approved My Little Pony game that you can play for

This makes me sad. 'Fighting is Magic' looked pretty spiffy. This looked like Skullgirls which restored my faith in fighting games.
And the Jerk of the week award goes to.... Ubi- Hasbro!
I was looking forward to this. And it really sucks when fans are denied the ability to create and share something they worked hard on.
This actually looked pretty good. Lots of different attacks and even juggle combos.
Ahhh man, I was really looking forward to this.
Dang, I feel bad for Mane6 this game looked pretty good for an independent group. I would've liked to how Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash played in the game and how big of a roster they had planned. I hope Hasbro contacts them and they can work something out.
For the record, Hasbro allowed it to go on as long as they legally could. Unfortunately, they're legally obligated to protect their trademarks at some point. After the project became to get more attention, Hasbro's lawyers had to step in.
This is how copyright law works in the States, folks. It sucks, but I don't really blame Hasbro that much.
To all of those asking "Why would Hasbro shut this down"... Probably because it was made without Hasbro's permission and it doesn't exactly fit what their view of MLP is.
Look at Nintendo. They shut down probably dozens upon dozens of fan made Pokemon MMOs every year.
What the **** am I looking at?
I'm not a "brony" but that actually looked like a pretty fluid 2d fighter. Sucks that Hasbro gave them the D.
Twilight Sparkle is OP...
I was expecting a Mortal Kombat with My Little Ponies.... But this I can't believe they shut down. No harm done.
Shame. It looks like a very well fluid fighting game, ponies aside. I wonder why mane6 was developing this game without Hasbro's permission.
If they were smart they would have taken over the project and renamed it Hasbro vs Pony
This is awesome... flat out!!!
