The lights are on
A presumed glitch that allows players to gather infinite resources in Dead Space 3, is actually not a glitch at all, according to developer Visceral Games.
The "glitch" was discovered by GameFront (which you can see below), and it allows you to completely bypass the option to purchase resources with real money, if you so desire, by farming one random resource that infinitely respawns. GameFront reached out to the developer and it replied that the ability to infininitely gather resources was not a glitch, and it won't be changed in a future patch.
“The resource-earning mechanic in Dead Space 3 is not a glitch. We have no plans to issue a patch to change this aspect of the game. We encourage players to explore the game and discover the areas where resources respawn for free. We’ve deliberately designed Dead Space 3 to allow players to harvest resources by playing through the game. For those that wish to accumulate upgrades instantly, we have enabled an optional system for them to buy the resources at a minimal cost ($1-$3).”

So, in other words, a blooper that the devs left in the game while debugging it. It make sense, considering the micro transactions is a stupid, stupid idea for any and all games alike.
Stickin' it to the man
Well you can just play stages again, right? But I sincerely doubt they meant for that sort of "run back and forth" exploit that nullifies the option to "do it instantly."
Unless they really, really wanted to poke a little fun at EA.
Well, this means anyone who was upset about micro transactions shouldn't have anything to complain about anymore, right? And it sounds like EA and Visceral don't really care about it.
I think that it's pretty cool that they are doing this.
Well, that is pretty swell of them. Invest time, or invest money, either way you always win. Better than D3 and its forcing you to use the RMAH.
I'll do a legit first playthrough and then do this glitch to fully explore the crafting system probably.
Dead space 1 has a glitch like this that also never got fixed :D
You don't even need that, if you save your ration things you can get the downloadable stuff for free, giving so much resources,
I'm glad that they're not fixing it. It fells nice when one finds a nugget like this and its even better when one is actually allowed to keep the fun that they find.
I just arrived on Tau Volantis and I reached a room which is used to survive the elements and i noticed when I'd retreat back (to up my body temp from exploring/fighting) an item kept respawning. Hahah so to find it's intentional is very interesting. It seems like a sly jab at microtransaction of the resource packs but it kinda leads to farming these spots xD
