Ubisoft Responds To Rayman Legends Backlash With Exclusive Wii U Demo

One-time Wii U exclusive Rayman Legends was delayed yesterday to reportedly make the game a multi-console release. Some fans didn’t like the decision, and Ubisoft announced via its Facebook page that Wii U owners will receive an exclusive demo.

No date is set for when the demo will hit, but many of the comments on the post are from upset gamers, with many of them unhappy with receiving a new demo.

Earlier today an anonymous developer wrote on a Spanish-language forum that the team was working overtime in order to make the February release before being told of the seven-month delay.

Game Informer editor Kyle Hilliard also expressed his disappointment with the delay, commenting that it will hurt the console’s health.

  • Seems fair. They should still release the game on Wii U first. And then, when the enhanced ps3/360 versions are released, release another version of the game (or update it via dlc depending on how significant the additional content is).
  • In what way would a 20 minute demo compensate for a 10 hour game being delayed for a stupid reason?
  • New demo? Whoopie! I hope it comes with a new music level...one can dream.
  • A demo....sorta cheers me up...
  • Sorry we are being dicks. Heres a crappy demo instead of just releasing the finished game. Wii U owners please wait a pointless eight months and buy our product!
  • no, this isn't good enough, just release the damn game & port it after

  • It actually kind of helped the Wii U. I know that I only bought a Wii U for this game and would have not bought one right away if I had know Legends would be multi-platform. So there you go Nintendo, you got my money.
  • Meh, isn't there already a demo on the Wii U's eshop or something anyway? The only way I see Ubisoft redeeming themselves is by moving the release date back.
  • I don't think gamers are the type to appreciate a token peace offering. Either fix the problem or make a satisfying argument for your case. Offering your fans a lollipop in an effort to calm them down will not help you, Ubisoft.
  • I've heard (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8rIU4xmvms) that the reason for this delay is that Microsoft's policy, on third party multi-platform releases, is that they must be simultaneous. I have no proof of this of course, but if its true that could explain why they're waiting for the wiiu release.

To me, this would make more sense then that Ubi just decided to sit on a finished game for several months.
  • this has been one of the best in gaming in this generation, BUT it also has been the worse in gaming this generation...DLC, season passes, delays, etc...i'm sorry, but i can' really remember many delays of video games before this generation...i'm not a fan of rayman, but it upsets me when developers are not trying their best to please gamers, and the industry is taking a toll because of it...don't believe, ask THQ and the other studios that are closing on a monthly (if not weekly) basis...they are going to rush this game, even with the delay, and i bet my next check that it will still have some DLC that you will have to pay for...
  • How in the hell is a Demo going to do anything.  This is one of the more ridiculous articles i have read today. That, and Boyzby does'nt like me.

  • We already have a demo. Ah well, Legends isn't the only exclusive, Lego City and the Wonderful 101 look great. People do realize Legends isn't the only upcoming exclusive right.
  • oh shut up. the wiiU gets bayonetta 2. try waiting on the last guardian if you have the balls.
  • Sorry Ubi, not good enough. Release the game. I was really looking forward to picking this up, but I'll skip it if they stick with the delayed release. Sorry devs, its not okay for the suits to give me the screwgee and still expect to get my money.

  • The only thing Ubisoft could do to make me feel better about this is to release the Wii-U version of this game in 18 days like they said they were going to not even 48 hours ago. There is no reason to delay the Wii-U version. It's done. Do that and all is forgiven. Don't, and I can't guarantee I'll be supporting Ubisoft products this year.
  • what the f*** is a demo gonna do to fix this bs?! i dont even have a wii u and this makes me mad
  • why is it pushed so far away in the year? im happy we getting it in ps360 but pushing this far doesnt make sense
  • Just further proof that the game is finished and that they are withholding it just to do all the releases at once. This is just teasing us after kicking us in the pants, Ubisoft.
  • ...Yippee?
