Developers Can't Catch A Break As Impossible Studios Closes Its Doors

The Impossible Studios developers seem to be facing the impossible task of working at a studio that doesn't fold. Big Huge Games, developer of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, went out of business last year, and now some of that former team's veterans find themselves once again out of a job after Epic Games closed Impossible Studios.

Tim Sweeney, founder of Epic Games, says in a post on Epic’s website that things just weren’t working out.

“When former members of Big Huge Games approached Epic last year, we saw the opportunity to help a great group of people while putting them to work on a project that needed a team,” Sweeney recalls. “It was a bold initiative and the Impossible folks made a gallant effort, but ultimately it wasn’t working out for Epic.”

Impossible Studios was working on Infinity Blade: Dungeons, and Sweeney says the project is now on hold.

The former employees will receive three months of severance pay, and will be able to use the Impossible Studios name and logo if they form a new company.
