The lights are on
Resident Evil 6 was a polarizing game, with some players looking at it as a logical extension of the series, while others felt betrayed. According to Capcom, some of the perceived failures were a result of poor marketing and development challenges.
The game's sales, which were originally projected to reach the seven-million mark, instead has sold five-million copies worldwide. Capcom cited several reasons for the relatively disappointing sales in an investor Q&A.
"[We] believe that the new challenges we tackled at the development stage were unable to sufficiently appeal to users. In addition, we believe there was inadequate organizational collaboration across our entire company with regard to marketing, promotions, the creation of plans, and other activities."
In other words, the game's new direction didn't attract players, and Resident Evil 6's marketing efforts didn't help.

Maybe that's because its got a six in front of its name, and the last one sucked. Come up with something original and maybe people will buy your games.
ok so they said they had develop(mental) problems but moved up the launch date by oh I cant remember maybe a couple of months, so they are basically saying they released a piece of *** before it could be a better piece of ***. I bought it and enjoyed it but now since it didnt sell as well as they though it would so they are making up excuses which just pisses me off. Own up to your *** capcom! It's like when people give you a christmas or birthday present, the person gives you what you think you would like instead of actually giving you the *** present that is on your *** list!!! Wake up Capcom. God jesus damn it!!!
Well atleast they're admitting that it sucks to themselves now.
They just need to reboot the series and the films while their at it. As much as the movies are guilty pleasures of mine, they are getting way out there. They developers fail to see the action comes from trying to survive. Its needs to be creepy and dark. Dead Space series is the anything close to the old games in atmosphere to me that has recently come out. Still I'm waiting to pick up the new one.
Very underrated game. I just wrote a short review of my own opinion in defense of the changes Capcom made in the game. Really hope this doesn't discourage them from making a 7 or continuing the series in general. I can see where old school fans feel the disconnect from RE1 days but please read my review if you want to see some points from my POV. The genre and series had to evolve and it seems people didn't like what it changed to.
Never was a fan of RE, but even I think this game was a betrayal to the series.
This game wasn't bad like I've heard so many people saying, but I do have to agree that it just isn't the Resident Evil of old. Just wish all these companies would realize change doesn't always have to be drastic.
It was a decent game, but I was under the impression that it was supposed to be a survival horror game, not an action adventure roflstomp through swaths of enemies. If I wanted that, I'd have looked elsewhere.
If you ask me, they changed a little too much, thereby alientating their old fanbase, and failed to market the action title in a way that would interest the gamers they were trying to attract. I hope the next title, if there is one, will return to it's survival horror roots.
RE6 SUCKED Dick!
Cause Resident Evil fans like myself who have been there from the beginning didn't like the FPS shooter they was trying to turn the series into to attract the COD kiddies and it backfired in their faces. I skipped buying the game completely after how much of a disappointment RE5 was.
I would like to see a reboot of the series and updated versions of the first RE trilogy remade for current consoles and PCs. Never understood why they only remade the first RE for Gamecube but never bothered to port it to other consoles at the time and never remade 2 and 3.
no, doesn't have to do with any of those things...the problem is you're trying to reach non resident evil fans while trying to please resident evil fans...fans come first...
Why can't Capcom just say "We messed up and lost touch with what RE is really about". Stop beating around the bush.
This rant is not about the quality of the game but rather if someone did something just own up to it.
The outcry for a resident evil 1 and 2 like experience is annoying, and takes away from the real issue with RE6. RE5 was fun as hell and a great game and it was hardly a survival horror game. My issue is how streamlined RE6 has become...The same problem with Mass effect 3... stop stream lining, encourage exploration, and make things more customizable!
Ill make it simple is linear and is not scary how it used to be. No more to say
