Release Window and Details For Next Assassin's Creed Game Revealed

All is well in the world for those who love scaling buildings and performing sneak attacks because today Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed details on the series' next venture.

Gullemot confirmed that the next entry will change things up yet again with a new protagonist and time period in the company's third-quarter earnings call. He also revealed the new entry will hit in Ubisoft's 2014 fiscal year.

As expected, he promised more details on the franchise will emerge soon, but he did let on that multiple teams would be tackling the new game.

What are your hopes for the next game?

  • New character already? Put in a different character and don't overdo it.

  • I enjoyed AC3, despite its occasional glitch and overwhelming quest load (Connor seems to singlehandedly fix everyones problems in the Boston and New York area). For AC4 I would be excited for it to take place in East Asia somewhere, Japan would be Ideal. As far as a new Character, I loved the simplicity of Altair and wouldn't mind having a character like him again. AC2 seemed to have to many gadgets that you could use, so I never used them all, the wrist blade was all I needed.
  • thats pretty cool news... i personally dont know but could someone tell me when exactly is ubisoft's 2014 fiscal year?
  • I think the ancient China or feudal japan concept seemed like it could be a good fit for the flavor of the series. Unlike many I actually enjoyed the latest entry and would enjoy more for that setting. Doesn't have to be Connor (he had his problems) but I liked the 'Merica setting
  • Nice - the two year break is a really good idea. AC3 felt rushed and thus disjointed in several ways, nothing that made in unplayable but still a bit disapointing.

I hope they will concentrate on the historical part and won´t jam any modern times into it.
Timewise I would love an asian setting (China;India; Japan) or Elizabethian england.
  • I don't know. I came away from ACIII with such a bad taste in my mouth -- I'm not sure how I feel about more games in the series. Granted, the storyline is solid, and I'm really interested to know what happens to the world after the end of ACIII, but that game was so poorly put together...I dunno.
  • Kinda sad that it's a new setting, i really liked Connor. Can't argue with more Assassin's Creed though
  • After 3, this series has left a bad taste in my mouth. Unless they really change up the formula, I'm going to sit this one out. Nothing will match the awe and awesomeness of AC2 IMO.
  • I would love to see them keep making Assassin's Creed games, but in a way that brings the Animus memories all the way to a present day time period.
  • I was thinking a French Revolution era Assassin's Creed would be cool, but now I feel like ACIII is pretty close to what I could expect from that time period. I know that I can expect a lot of backlash for saying this, but I wouldn't mind a modern day Assassin's Creed.
  • Brazil right? Didn't a document leak a few months ago?
  • Egypt please.

  • Nice

  • I really enjoyed the game when guns where not a large part of the attack system. So going back into an era when swords and bows were a main force would be my pick. Fedual Japan or ancient China could be a very fun historical adventure, but would have to change it up since that has been used in so many other franchises. I would not mind seeing more medieval era's, add in some mounted combat that actually works well in a game? Also if they could bring back the puzzle style tombs and chambers that would be awesome.
  • Ancient Greece would be badass.
  • I'm not against the plans for this "new Assign's Creed" project, but at the same time I don't really feel the drive to continue on after ACIII. Perhaps I'm just experiencing a little fatigue from the series, and hopefully my feeling will change after more details surface. But for now, I'm content with taking a break from Assassin's Creed for a while.
  • but, but, but, I want to see Connor again! D,:

  • More naval combat

  • I'm kinda glad they're getting rid of Conner. He didn't have that special something that ezio had.
  • Can we get back to the actual "assassin" part of the series? As the series has gone on, it has become more and more action focused less about planning assassinations. The original AC actually forced you to be stealthy and strategic. I'd also really like it if they brought back the intelligence gathering on targets, albeit with much more variety.
