The lights are on
Reporting on its recent performance in the third fiscal quarter ending last year, Sony has once again revised its sales estimates for the Vita and PSP handhelds for the fiscal year ending in March.
Both handhelds are now expected to sell seven million units worldwide. This echoes CEO Kaz Hirai's earlier comments that sales of the Vita in particular were on the "low end" of what the company was expecting.
According to Gamasutra, this is not the first time the company has revised its outlook for the two portable units.

Could we see a price drop?
The lack of games is the sole reason i have not bought a vita yet.
The Vita's problem is not just a lack of games but it is also the games it is getting right now. Nobody wants to play a lesser version of a game they can play on their home console, people want different games. The 3DS is not winning because of its price alone but also the fact it gets custom made games for the hardware that are made by Nintendo's A-Team developers that's why you get great games like Super Mario 3D Land, Kid Icarus, Mario Kart 7 and Fire Emblem. Sony hasn't done this with the Vita. They keep offloading what should be their premier franchises to B or C level studios and the results have been mostly bad.
I'm still using my PSP as much as ever, perhaps because Japanese developers are still releasing games for it. I have a 3DS, which I love, but I want to buy a Vita eventually; one of the advantages of the Vita is the fact that it's region free, so I can supplement the Vita's relatively small game library with Japanese games.
Sony really needs to get some high-profile developers on board with the Vita if they want to sell more units.
"Aw crap!".
