Capcom Revising RE 6 & DMC Figures

Capcom has already warned that sales for Resident Evil 6 were lower than expected during the release window, and now the company has revealed the new targets for both Resident Evil 6 as well as Devil May Cry.

Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 6 is expected to ship five million worldwide before the end of the fiscal year on March 31 – down from the forecast of seven million.

Similarly, the company is pulling back on its outlook for Devil May Cry down to 1.2 million from two million.

  • Well, I guess this is what happens when you piss off the fanbase. That's a shame, they both got too much flak.
  • Devil May Cry is a great game, but the RE franchise could use a similar new life. I feel for Capcom, and the video game industry doesn't need any more news like this.
  • I am STILL loving DMC. I even purchased the new skins so I could feel like a bad @ss.. in the digital world..
  • I'm not surprised they lowered RE6's expected shipping to 5 million. I still think it's a pretty good game though.

  • I knew that number was pretty high but I still enjoyed RE6. I haven't gotten around to finishing it but I hope that DMC can manage to make its previous forecast.
Also, when I first read the bit of the article on the front page, I thought it was about actual RE6 and DMC figures, not numbers. I want to get figures now...
  • Don't fret Cappie, I'll buy DMC soon. Oh and dude, watch out for that snake monster thing!

  • I interpreted the title of the article as Capcom doing some sort major overhaul to Resident Evil 6 and also releasing new DmC action figures. The actual contents of the article was such a letdown.

  • DMC isn't going to do any better. Even if the game is amazing, changing a classic series around so drastically will always have serious ramifications. As a long time DMC fan, I actually enjoyed the new DMC, but so many couldn't get past the new direction and so the game will suffer. It's Capcom's own fault for allowing it to change like this. I seriously doubt we'll see another DMC game anytime soon. Same thing with RE. Instead of keeping their core audience with the classic RE survival horror, they chose to open the game to casual players, and in doing so they casualized the hell out of the game and lost their original audience. I really hope Capcom gets it together soon.
  • Ive been a RE fan since i bought RE2 then RE:directors cut.Hell i bought a Dreamcast just to play RE:Code Veronica and a gamecube for RE:4,and the remake of the original RE for gamecube was second to none! RE:Zero was great and hinded at what was to come in RE:4. Then something happend... RE:5 completely gutted out the survival horror and i was left with a co-op shooter,I was totally looking forward to that game too,but i just couldnt get into the game, the atmosphere RE was known for was gone in place of fast paced action.RE:6 was more of the same with more charaters.Im sure newer fans of the series dont get why older gamers dislike the newer RE entries and favor the "Clunky" "Bad Camera Angle" REs,and it was all about the atmosphere,it didnt feel like an over the top bad@** fest where im this unstoppable gun blazing hero,it felt real! get bit more than 3 times and youll die! conserving ammo to survive not shooting up the place and having plenty of ammo left over,it had the feeling of survival (which i think the game "I Am Alive" recaptures beautifully)Im hoping for a reboot at this point,i couldnt get into 5-6 and to be honest i dont even think capcom knows what to do with their RE storyline anymore.Maybe this will allow them to refocues their efforts.
  • I've never tried out DMC, but Resident Evil really needs to be restarted. It has strayed so far from its roots,(and that's not a knock at growing and changing) but it's not scary or creepy like the original 1-3. Those were great. Throw the films in there too just for good measure.
  • I think I speak for all who are reading this, as you are no doubt are a RE or DMC fan. Capcom as well as other companies (EA) need to deliver promptly. Instead of releasing 3/4 or 1/2 in some cases (RE5) of the game and selling for 70-80 a pop, release the full game! Sell it for $90.00 Include the DLC, include the skins, include the weapons at least for campaign! Multiplayer is a different story they need something to keep us on their servers plus its online keep the DLC online, but not for 10-15 a pack. We want a hard copy of what we are buying **BRAAAHHHH**! No some electronic data we lose if we play the game on another console. Understandably its a smart marketing scheme..how that working out for you ˆ ..I know a lot more gamers would purchase on release instead of waiting in excess on 6 months for the GOTY edition in which they inevitably have to sell for 40-60. I'm sure by then they have already made up the difference in their millions from people purchasing the DLC. :/
  • D'aww I thought you meant action figures. lol
  • Thats what happens when you go too the Actiony genre and thats what happen when you give youre another flagship game like DMC to Ninja Theory. Heyy PS what happened to Racoon City another loss of $$$ right. That teaches you a lesson. I hope this Reboot that they mentioned happens because they are going down hill bad on good franchise game which they dont deserve being made by other companies other that Capcom itself
  • This is what happens when your too quick on the gun.

  • Ouch, haven't had the chance to play DMC but RE6 is a good game so far. Not amazingly great. But still a pretty good game.

  • Oh well. Shoulda kept nero and dante from 4. and Re should have stayed ended after weskers death.
  • Both games are awesome. I'm 100% with Tim Turi on RE6, it is so much damn fun.

  • I was playing RE6 again this weekend and while playing through Chris's portion, I can't help but feel like its a broke version of Gears. Very broke. Terrible controls, weak aiming, accidental deaths that never should've happened, all while playing a game that is nothing AT ALL like the experience I wanted to have from a game with the RE name on it. They say that they're "going back to the series roots" with the next game and I really hope that's true. Exploration, horror, surprises, mystery, puzzles... That's all stuff that got me in to this series. Not some shooter wannabe.
  • Dang... Stop with the that's what you get comments. And stop with the oh you should have stopped at this game because if it wasn't for those devs we wouldn't have any of those games.
  • I don't get all the stupid RE hate these days. The origionals started out in mansions and small cities. The outbreak isn't going to stay small for long before getting bigger and bigger and going global like in RE6. You can't keep having the same scares over and over again. I don't give a crap about DMC but I heard that game isn't as bad as others are saying too. I wonder how many "haters" have even played these games.
