The lights are on
En Masse's massively multiplayer role-playing game is joining the ranks of the free-to-play revolution on February 5.
As with most subscription-gone-free games, Tera will have tiers roughly analogous to "free player, subscribed player, and player who bought the box." The usual bonuses like bank tabs, special mounts, and extra character slots are assigned to players based on how much cash they have previously put in the game, and similar items will be for sale via microtransactions (full details here).
I highly recommend anyone looking for a new MMO to check out Tera's exceptional combat. The game can get a bit grindy at times (especially the crafting), and the questing and storylines are straight out of Central Asian RPG casting, but it's all worth it for the awesome feeling of power that flows through your veins whenever you're immersed in its outstanding battles.
I just started playing the unlimited demo to this game in anticipation for it going f2p. I am actually enjoying it, which is more than I can say for most other mmo's I've tried in the past.
Sweeet. I'll try it out.
I'M SHOCKED!
Well. I feel like this F2P thing is gonna be a flop. You're gonna have too many people not knowing how to do it right.
...I have to honestly think here... how many people are going to sign up for it just to oggle the characters in the creation screen? That's sort of been an issue with TERA since the beta -- it's like they're trying to appeal to every demographic when it comes to overt sexualization. The males, the females, didn't really matter. I think a few men and women of the human choices actually wore pants and shirts, but besides that, the bets are off.
I think I am kind of burned out on the current MMO formula. I like being social in games, and I really like shared economic systems like player trading and Auction Houses. I like multiplayer competitive maps. What I don't like is the necessity to group for the bigger aspects of the game. I like going at my own pace. I much prefer games where taking on a dungeon solo is just as viable as a group. The challenge should be scaled accordingly, but not the rewards. My opinion of course.
Cool, it's alright too.
Will definitely check it out since I haven't played any MMO's in a while.
Even worthier than Dead or Alive. Yay! Items? SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!
i will try it
marked Feb 5. gonna try this game!
May try it out tbh
Ive heard a lot of good things about Tera. Watched the Angry Joe episode about it and it really got me inerested. Sadly my computer will likely run it either really poorly or not at all. But Feb. 5th seems like an awsome day to be a nerd. This goes free to play and Nostalgia Critic returns with a brand new episode. HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN! Time to look into upgrading my hardware.
