The lights are on
"I think video games is a bigger problem than guns, because video games affect people," the senator from Tennessee told MSNBC in response to a question about proposed gun control legislation that would require universal background checks.
Words fail me.
Failing the ability to live in a world where viewpoints like this weren't part of the political mainstream, I'd settle for a world where people like Senator Alexander had legitimate, good-faith discussions with folks like Adam Sessler instead of grandstanding about how (to uncharitably paraphrase the Senator) guns don't kill people, video games kill people.
This guy is a joke.
Guns don't affect people? Hm. I have a feeling if I fire a gun at someone, that gun is going to have a very good try at affecting the person I'm aiming at.
*Facepalm* Thanks for backing my home state Lamar!
Yeah sure i just used my demon souls copy to summon a red phantom and kill the entire school i wish somebody would have taken the game away from me
I put the blame on the t.v. media in a comment posted yesterday on this story for fueling division in the American populace.
Today I noticed that Fox(entertainment)News made the Adam Sessler interview be pulled due to copyright infringement.
Copyright infringement or the fact that Fox didn't like what he said??? My money is on the latter. Corporate censorship for things they don't agree with. Let's just pretend that interview never happened........
This is the dumbest thing i have ever heard in my life.
"Video games IS"? hurr durr I'm in the senate but i don't know the difference between is and are.
Bi*ch Please, TV shows Like, Dexter, Breaking Bad are a lot worst.
Come on guys everyone knows that guns kill 100000000000 people each day! Video games are the leading cause of Hitler Babies as well!
Goes to show that these idiots are completely out of touch with reality. Anyone who knows ANYTHING about video games would not waste their breath on ridiculous statements like this. One day we'll live in a world where our leaders will have grown up on games, but until then, old people need to shut their mouthes.
NRA: Guns don't kill people. People do.
Reporter: So why are you blaming video games?
NRA: Uhhh... because video games affect people.
Reporter: And guns do not?
NRA: Uhhh... no.
Reporter: So shooting people has no affect on them?
NRA: Uhhh... no. Not psychologically.
Reporter: So the parents of Sandy Hook were not affected psychologically?
Reporter: Do you believe games are worse than guns?
NRA: Yes, absolutely.
Reporter: Have you ever seen anyone killed by a video game?
Reporter: So how do you come to these conclusions?
NRA: We have a quack doc that we paid to tell us so.
Oh, silly me. Here I was thinking guns affected people. I mean, I always thought a gun gave a man power, which often corrupts their moral compass, which can lead to them becoming a bad person. I also thought guns had a direct physical effect on people. Mainly through taking bullets to the chest region, but also through being assaulted by the weapon itself.
I should have known that they were really just being fueled by rage they clearly built up by playing violent video games. You know, killing people in games just makes you so angry, you just need to go kill a real person. Just like how working all day gets you so stressed, that you just want to go back and work some more!
So, video games are worse than guns huh? I have never hear about anyone climbing into a tower and sniping people with a video game.
That makes sense. Because guns obviously don't kill and video games are the tools for killing. Great statement sir.
Mr. Alexander.... Please... just... don't ever speak again. You are essentially... an oxygen thief.
just lost a game of pong. i feel violent.
