Reader Discussion: What’s Your Take On Microtransactions In Dead Space 3?

by Louis Garcia on Jan 30, 2013 at 10:15 AM

A PlayStation Store update revealed pricing for Dead Space 3 microtransactions, and it’s caused a bit of a stir within the gaming community. Purchasing all of the optional content sets players back $41 – with used gamers having to pay $9.99 for an online pass.

The series’ first installment also featured microtransactions for things such as weapon packs, so Dead Space 3 isn’t adventuring into new territory. The trend isn’t going away, and there are those who are on both sides of the debate as to whether or not it’s a good idea to charge for such items.

What’s your take on microtransactions in Dead Space 3? Will you purchase and download the content to enrich your experience, or are you against purchasing extra items like horse armor, extra player levels in role-playing games, and now Dead Space 3 guns and bot personalities?
