Arma Goes Turn-Based

Arma/DayZ developer Bohemia Interactive announced today that it is creating a turn-based tactical spinoff of its military simulator series. Arma Tactics will launch exclusively on Nvidia's upcoming Project Shield handheld, and boasts randomized mission objectives and stealth as well as explosive tactical options.

Arma Tactics supports both touch and gamepad controls, and takes advantage of Project Shield's multi-screen output to allow players to see the battle from multiple perspectives. You can also bet that a studio known for its graphical prowess, working closely with Nvidia on a launch title for its flagship new Tegra 4 mobile platform, will not disappoint in the presentation department.

Arma Tactics launches with Project Shield in the second quarter of this year.

  • adding a different genre always goes over well.

  • Exclusively on the Shield? I dunno' about that.

  • You scared me there for a minute. Haha. Ok, a turn-based spin-off sounds nice. I am ready for it, if I ever get the chance to play (because the handheld, on the other hand, doesn't sound all that great).
  • Just hurry up and finish Arma 3 already, then work on these other projects. We have been without a quality milsim for far too long.
  • TURNED BASED TACTICAL ZOMBIE MOD

  • This seams interesting.

  • Good, I just hope they dont use the awful engine they currently do.
  • Actually sounds alright.

  • Nice.

  • Please, God, take a page from X-COM.
