My favorite downloadable game this generation was castlevania HD it's one of the few games where i feel that my money was well spent
Admittedly I haven't played many but will have to say Dead Nation. Awesome co-op play and I think mojomonkey12 and I only killed each other a few times LOL.
I'm going to have to go with Bastion. The narrative, the bright colors O_O, gameplay and interesting settings blew me away. Out of all the games I own, that is the only one I actually finished in 2012. For what its worth, the ending was actually handled quite well.
My favorite DLG this generation has been Torchlight. I'd never played a dungeon crawler before, but for whatever reason Torchlight looked like fun. After beating Torchlight on XBLA, I learned that Torchlight II was being made and set about pre-ordering it. Because of Torchlight, I expanded my breadth of gaming, and have now been happily learning the joys of gaming on PC with Torchlight II.
Retro city rampage. Repetitive but old school
My favorite downloadable title is Bastion. That game feels so unique and is just a breath of fresh air.
Absolutely Torchlight II, and right behind that, The Walking Dead. In all fairness, I've only played through the first episode of Walking Dead, and I'm sure that probably has some influence on my opinion.
My favorite dlg has been The Binding of Isaac. It's insane amount of play ability and the items that add to a gross but hilarious atmosphere really help to make this title shine. My close second is Dust. It was made by ONE GUY, and that makes me have immense respect for this game as a whole.
Im gonna have to say Awesomenauts. I absolutely love the MoBA genre and Awesomenauts has a nice MoBA type feel but with lovable characters and 2D platformer flair.
My favorite would have to be Dust 514. That game is AMAZING!!!!!
That's a tough question. For XBLA Splosionman and Ms Splosionman are definite winners, but for PC I gotta say Magicka.
Hands down has to be Journey, that game is just breathtaking, from the amazing visuals to the journey to the 'limited' communication, that game just does everything right.
Runner-ups would be Castle Crashers, way too many hours put into that, and Pixel Junk Monsters, by far my favorite TDF game.
My personal favorite was Braid, it really opened people's eyes to indie games. Oh, and it's a great game.
I am loving La Mulana for my Wii! It's hard as all Hell, but it's unstoppingly great.
This is tough to choose, but I'll pick blindly and say Rez HD cause that's always a safe choice for me
My favorite is Castle Crashers. I had a few friends over one night to play Call of Duty, but the kiddy game I had downloaded for my little cousins to play a few days earlier caught their eye and so we tried it out. It turned out to be way more fun than any of us anticipated and we wound up playing it for 10 hours and beat the game. Definitely one of the greatest times I've ever played and playing 4 player couch co-op made it even better.
My favorite Downloadable Game has either been Okami HD or Journey, or Double Dragon Neon.
My favorite DLG is Trials Evolution. The quality and amount of new and free content through Track Central has been amazing and keeps me playing it every day.
