The lights are on
Update: Junction Point's Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two was not well received, by critics or fans, and as a result, Disney has decided to close down the studio for good.
Yesterday, rumors circulated that Disney would be closing down Epic Mickey developer Junction Point, and this morning Disney confirmed those rumors with a statement that reads:
"It was with much sadness that we informed our teams today of changes to our Games organization, which include the closure of Junction Point Studios. These changes are part of our ongoing effort to address the fast-evolving gaming platforms and marketplace and to align resources against our key priorities. We’re extremely grateful to Warren Spector and the Junction Point team for their creative contributions to Disney with Disney Epic Mickey and Disney Epic Mickey 2."
Our best wishes go out to those who recently lost their jobs.
Original Story: A source in the development community is tweeting farewells to the Texas-based creators of the Epic Mickey franchise.
A recent tweet offers support for the idea that Junction Point Studios may be closing up shop. The tweet comes from RSI, Chris Roberts’ account for Roberts Space Industries. Roberts is the creator of Wing Commander, and is currently raising funds for the creation of a new space-based game called Star Citizen. It's worth noting that Chris Roberts is based in Austin, TX, the same city where Junction Point is based.
The tweet from earlier today reads: “Second 21 gun salute for a studio in 7 days. Fare-the-well Junction Point! We hope that you all find new studios soon!”
It’s not the first we’ve heard here at GI regarding rumors that Warren Spector’s development studio could be in trouble, but if Roberts’ recent tweet is to be believed, Junction Point may be gone very soon. It would be the second major studio closure in recent days, following the news that Darksiders studio Vigil has been shuttered as a result of THQ's closure.
Game Informer has contacted Disney Interactive about the rumor, but did not immediately receive a response.

Kind of saw this coming...I played the demo of EM2 on xbox and wasn't fun in the slightest, I'm guessing people wanted a Epic Mickey platformer instead, I know I did..
That truly sucks big time
For a pair of games with "Epic" in the title, they were anything but
See now this studio made a bad game that did bad while vigil did well and made a good game. Just not fair :/ now a days but still hope they find jobs
I think it is safe to say that Warren Spector's comeback was an epic fail.
But I wanted to see if they learn their lesson in epic mickey 3....
Another studio bites the dust, this story sounds just like Blue Tongue's demise. Its a shame.

Just bring back Sega Genesis' Castle of Illusion in HD. or something.
That's disappointing, but it was to be expected with the sequel not being well received.
Can't say I ever played either game (yet) but it's still sad to see a studio close. Best of luck.
