The lights are on
Recently, there was a massive battle in EVE Online that featured over 2,800 players duking it out in space with their space ships. Thankfully someone grabbed a few screens of the absurd spectacle.
The politics and factions of EVE Online are as difficult to follow as those in the real-world, so it's hard to pinpoint exactly what happened to set off this massive battle. You can head here to see some more images of the battle, and a video below that shows a little bit of the battle in motion.

I'm going to be 100% honest here, I have no idea the hell I just witnessed.
This stuff is why EVE is awesome.
that video was only a few hundred people who chased down a titan who dq'd. for the full scale battle, click the video's youtube link, look in its description, there will be a link to another video. that one is the full battle. it's like 10x larger.
So yeah, this happened. Like with a lot of EVE stories though, no one bothers to ask, "Why is this awesome, exactly?".
So what, a lot of players lagging a boring game; ooh, wow. That's like being impressed by some open world game that claims to have 100 square kilometers of game world. A smart gamer isn't impressed by that; they're impressed by the CONTENT in said open world game, not just the technical achievement of pulling it off.
EVE is annoying. I'm going back to Planetside 2 now.
my sisters boyfriend had to be in that.
That's a lot of players.
I really need to get into this game.
Wow that was pretty awesome. Liked the video with the 360 degree views . Seems. like an interesting game.
J.J. Abrams, take note of this.
Thats pretty sweet, may the best of all win, and I hope its not a hacker, I dont like those hackers.
EVE Online is such a kick-ass game.
Dang! Never played it but that is something else.
I have never previously played or seen eve, but from what i saw in that video, it looked like a bunch of microscopic ships were fighting a deathstar sized ship, then a bunch of wormholes came, then they went away for lunch or something, then they came back and one of them turned into a giant beam and shot at a random direction, so basically i have no clue whats going on here
...what just happened?
My computer wouldn't just lag and drop framerate down to zero, it would explode from the amount of players in one area during that battle. My laptop can barely handle 50 man battles, let alone 2800. I don't know anything about Eve online, but how the hell do you have a 2800 player battle. That's insane.
