Weekend Warrior 01/25/13

by Ben Reeves on Jan 25, 2013 at 01:00 PM

We're experiencing some of the coldest winter nights of the year here in MN; that means it's the perfect weekend to stay inside and play games. Don't steal our good idea.

Ben Hanson: This weekend I hope to play more of The Cave. It feels built for co-op but the co-op is finicky and not great, but I'm still looking forward to playing this game on my Wii U. It's a nice, little adventure. I also plan on downloading Balloon Fight on my Wii U's new virtual console, don't judge me but Balloon Fight is my personal favorite NES game. The multiplayer mode is a blast. Outside of that I might make time to continue my playthrough of the original Paper Mario or dabble in Driver: San Francisco's "Tag" mode online with Sir Jeff Cork.

Tim Turi: This weekend I’ll continue fighting the forces of evil as Dante in Devil May Cry. I love the game but the sheer wealth of combat options makes the game a tad overwhelming. Hopefully I’ll master it soon. I’m also slogging through the infested mess of the U.S.G Ishimura in my hard playthrough of Dead Space 1. Guess what? It’s difficult, but awesome.

Jeff Marchiafava: Last weekend my plans were derailed by the fun indie platformer Knytt Underground, so this weekend I plan to jump back into Far Cry 3 and Tropico 4. Hopefully if I spend enough time playing games set in tropical locations, I’ll forget that I live on planet Hoth.

Andrew Reiner: Tonight and Saturday, I'm playing Ni no Kuni with my wife Kelly. We've vested about 20 hours into this charming RPG, and are going for a complete playthrough –  where we complete all of the side missions and collect all of the monsters. We're loving it. On Saturday, Dan Ryckert and his stupid friends are coming over to my house to watch WWE's Royal Rumble. Dan has already asked me if he can crash on my couch. He's the worst.

Jeff Cork: This weekend, I’m going to play Naruto Shippūden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations, which is a game based on something that I have never seen before. I am not interested in learning anything about the game’s lore. I’m not even 100-percent sure about what kind of game this is. I just figured there were several entries in the series, and it might be fun or something. I don’t even know what I’m doing with my life anymore.

Kyle Hilliard: I’m still working on Far Cry 3, but I downloaded The Cave, so I think that’s going to demand my attention for awhile. I’m starting with The Adventurer, The Knight, and The Scientist, and I am already pretty intrigued enough to see everyone else’s puzzles and stories. Other than that, I’ll be hanging out with the wife and baby and catching up on Shameless on Sunday night.
