Terraria Coming To Consoles Next Month

Terraria, the indie PC hit, is coming to consoles, and this trailer details the new features.

The game is coming to Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network next month. This new console version will feature new controls, a new tutorial, new armor and weapons, new enemies, new pets, new music, a world map, and a new final boss. The game will also feature split-screen multiplayer for up to four people, and online multiplayer for up to eight people.

We're fans of Terraria here, as evidenced by this preview from Tim Turi, so we're excited to see how the console version of the game turns out.

  • incoming tsunami of cash and arguments about minecraft vs terraria
  • I've been meaning to try this game out at some point on Steam. Too much of a backlog, to do so at the moment though.

I am interested in the game.
  • man, i was addicted to this game for like 4 months on the pc. i cant wait to play it again on 360

  • Terraria! Never heard of it but it looks pretty cool. I'm excited to check it out.
  • I might like to try this. But I prefer digging in first person. It's how my dad taught me. "Dig in first person or then not at all", he would say.
  • GAH....'next month'.....I want to know the date so that i can obsess accordingly. :P

  • Looks like a 2D Minecraft.
  • Really great game! I have played the heck out of it on Steam and thought it would be perfect for consoles. I enjoy Minecraft a little more, but this is an amazing game in its' own right. That being said since I already have it on Steam I doubt I will be getting it for consoles. Although some of the new things do intrigue me, I'm trying to finish my backlog of Wii games before I start on anything else.

  • This is my most played game on steam, but I don't want to go through all the grinding again to get to the new stuff in the console version.

  • This game is awesome! So addicting. It does have a bit of a minecraft sort of feel when it comes to digging, resources and crafting, but that's only part of the game. Think of the most awesome 2D fantasy adventure game you played as a kid, and knock it out of the park with a huge sandbox world, a ton of really imaginative weapons, armor and exploration gear, and sometimes punishing difficulty (big baddies hit you hard and early on, so you're always looking for that leg up with the next tier of armor you can make).

  • This is actually great news for the people who don't know much about this game. They will learn soon how great of a game it is.

  • YAY!!!

  • Never knew they had intentions of a console release, kinda figured it would hit up the handhelds first :p.  Either way this is great, it's a wonderful little game!

  • It looks like a 2D platformer Minecraft, which isn't a bad thing.
  • I honestly can't hold back my excitement!! I'm so excited,..I...I..I can kiss my boss.Be right back! Ok I'm back and unemployed, but Terraria comes out next month!!!

  • Games like this and Minecraft never interest me but it looks good for those that do like them. This looks like it has more of an endgame than Minecraft so I might dig it.
  • Really wish the new content would come to PC.
  • Cool....

  • YES! I'm fixing on putting another 300 hours into this. I'm a LITTLE skeptic on how well the controls will work, because this game was literally built for a mouse and keyboard, but hopefully it works out in the end!
