Game Developers Choice Awards Nominees Announced

The nominees annual awards show, which takes placed during the Game Developer's Conference, have been announced. Arkane's Dishonored is among the games nominated for multiple awards.

The Game of the Year nominees include some fresh blood, including Dishonored, Journey, The Walking Dead, and XCOM. Interesting, the controversial Mass Effect 3, which we picked as Game of the Year, is also up for the award. Check out the full list below.

The Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony takes place at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco on Wednesday, March 27.

  • I want ME3 to win. That game is so good. NOTE: I loved the ending.
  • No Max Payne 3? It had gorgeous graphics and one of the strongest narratives I've played through this year, up there with Mass Effect 3.
  • Best technology- bo2... HAHAHAHhaha... what a joke
  • Dishonored was AAAAAAMMMMMAAAAAAZZZZZZIIIIIINNNNNNGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • This looks like a fine list. I'm glad that this thing is coming. I hope that this will get it out of everyone's system and I will never again have to hear game enthusiasts gush over Journey.
  • Dishonored for Best Narrative? Hmm, I don't know about that. I think X-COM should win.
  • I'm surprised that Assassin's Creed III is nominated for best tech, that game was so buggy/glitchy. Also surprised that Kid Icarus was nominated for Best Handheld Game, since that one wasn't that great. Other than that, I'm pulling for Dishonored all the way.
  • Wait. BlOps2 got nominated for best tech? Granted it looks much nicer than previous CoD but its in no way a great leap. IMO PlanetSide 2 or Halo 4 will win in that category.
  • I'm just going to say I'm eating my words... A while back for the VGA's I was mad about how Walking Dead won GOTY, I played the first and second and have the third bought and will play this weekend and dear god they are brutally amazing! But nonetheless, Mass Effect is still my GOTY. (Still hope Walking Dead wins best Downloadable Game, though!)
Also what I want is Dishonored to win best Game Design, as I truly thought it was very well thought out and designed!
Lastly, I really hope Borderlands 2 wins best Visuals! I've only played the first but I think they pulled off the cell-shaded very very well!
Edit: This is totally off-topic but does anyone think Borderlands 2 will get a GOTY edition like the first, because I really want those DLC.
  • These nominations look to be spot on, and I'm glad to see Journey in just about every other category.

  • Spec Ops should win Best Narrative. It took an overused setting and turned it into SUCH a strong story. Loved that game.
  • really good list. extremely happy to see hotline miami in audio, that game had the best soundtrack for sure

  • Max Payne 3 wasn't nominated for anything?

  • I'm all for ME3. Hope it wins, because it totally deserves it.. And on that topic, is the DLC with the female turian worth it, and is it longer?
  • Journey is going to win most of these, and if it doesn't it should. Nothing even comes close. ('xept Halo). Note: I do not own a PS3 (wish I did though)I own an 360.
  • I really hope Spec Ops takes it for best narrative! Game was incredible

  • I loved Dishonored, really, I did.

It did not have the best narrative, it barely had a good narrative.

mass Effect 3 and Dishonored are not on the same level, not even in the same dimension for that matter.

  • WOOHOO Finally someone recognizes Spec Ops: The Line!
  • Nice to see Spec ops and XCOM  up there.

  • Best Audio: Halo 4 Best Debut: ... Best Game Design: Journey Best Downloadable Game: Journey/Walking Dead (Can't decide lol) Best Technology: Planetside 2 Best Handheld/Mobile Game: ... Best Narrative: Spec Ops The Line Best Visual Arts: Halo 4/Journey Innovation: Journey Game of the Year: Mass Effect 3 (Even though I disliked the endings)
